Bore Sight Your Rifle At Home – FOR FREE

In today’s video, I will show you how you can bore sight your rifle at home FOR FREE! No expensive tools required for this unique method.

Keep in mind that this is a bore sighting method and although it should get you on paper, it does not replace physically zeroing your rifle at the range. Hopefully it saves you some time at the range though! This method works best if you have an adjustable parallax that goes down to 10 yards.

Thanks for watching!

  1. Great video .. I have a question, if the imaginary lines of the scope and barrel will meet at 10 yards, why is order to make the adjustments, the target paper is placed at 30 yards and not 10 yards?

  2. This is a clever way to get your sight/optic on paper quickly. The intersection of line of sight and bore axis is typically indeterminate but at 10 yd it's moot and a good place to start, as suggested. That said, off-center increments at ten yd will be multiplied up to ten-fold at 100, so there will be more work to be done on the turrets, but less o'all once you catch on. Anyway, 5/5.

  3. I have been using the look through the bore method for years until my old aged eye caught up with me. Now I use a laser bore sight. But remember none of the laser bore sights on the market are perfectly centered and here is how I overcome the error. I rotate the laser bore sight in barrel and mark the red dot projected on the paper about 25 yards away and with seven or eight points I can draw a circle from those marks and the center of that circle is the center of the bore. I look through the scope and adjust the cross hair to that center. This gets me on paper and very close to bullseye at 100 yards.

  4. For $25 I can buy a laser bore sight and go to the range and dial in the scope In minutes to the exact yardage I want. This video shows all this equipment to hold the gun , measuring, leveling, and time consuming. I don’t know why this video was posted. It’s costly and requires more effort than necessary.

  5. once i get my gun dialed in at the range when i go home i put the bore sighter back on and write down where the scope crosshairs align with the boresighter grid. example : two lines left and two down. i write it down and save it should i change to a different scope.

  6. This is exactly how I've been bore sighting my guns for my entire life! My brother showed up at the range with a laser bore sight, and I bet him I could do it by eye better and faster then his toy. Immediately he realized you cant see it outside in daylight … and I had his gun hitting steel at 50 yards within a few min … I don't even get so fancy like you, jus a steady hold and a good eye is all I need

  7. Get a laser boresight. $10. Boresight at 25 yards. Your LR will be dead on. When you get to the range all you need to do is adjust elevation for your distance. Takes two minutes. 2-3 rounds and your dead on

  8. All I do is look down the barrel of a 308 at 25 yards and then when I get it exactly on 25 yards I give it 8 clicks down and it hits on 100 yards, and 4 clicks up and I hit clay pigeons at 200 yards, on the ground of course 😉

  9. I aim at my target, with my rifle locked down on my rest fire one round after i have the barrel warmed up adjust my crosshairs to my hit and fire the next one, i have it sighted in 3 or 4 shots later
