A Long Island mother is reacting to a new bill co-sponsored by Congressman George Santos that would make the AR-15 the national gun of the United States. Her son was killed in the Parkland school shooting. CBS2’s Ali Bauman reports.

This is as vile and despicable as it gets. It seems that it will not pass- none of the sponsors of this bill have any sense or decency. As long as this weapon is sold, there will be mass shootings. How could any normal person support this? Aside from guaranteeing more death of innocent people, it also shows no caring for those who died from this weapon, senselessly.
We have more than 22 MILLION AR guns on the streets with only 2% registered. It's a disaster.

I think its terrible that anyone has died in connection with these guns. I thinks it's terrible that anyone has ever died in connection of anything! Cars, trucks, boats, planes, tall buildings, knives, gasoline, electricity etc. Many many people have died horribly from these things. I think guns are just a tiny piece of the pie, we need to get all these other causes of death and the people and companies that promote them banned first! Just cars alone kill countless people! War is killing people!!! Let's first make all the governments give up their guns if we really care about gun violence!

I've lost friends to #gv but I've never blamed the gun, I blamed the sick f@#$ using it.
I've mourned the losses of those lost by the hand of another or by their own hand. I've seen what these things are capable of and I've also seen how they've saved lives too.
No child should ever have to go thru that horror, schools need to step it up and protect our children with better safety protocols.
