Yeah, I guess it just depends on the kind of home defense. If you have a violent riot outside your door, maybe green is the way to go. Still, I just keep hollows loaded in mine though for now, but I have greens if I ever “need” them. Find what works for your situation 🙂

Man great tests, I'm impressed to see how far this channel has grown since I've stopped by last! I started stockpiling 55gr 5.56 because the cost per round is less than any of the other ones and the most common so I have my "go-to" rifle zeroed for 55. Thought about trying some of that 55gr vmax tip, like what that Hornady tap urban is loaded with. Supposedly much less penetration through walls, going with a light-for-caliber load. Kinda wish I had some ballistics gel there's so much I want to test 😂

Nope, M855 was not designed for 'light armor piercing' purposes. All you gotta do is wikipedia check it.

Not a steel core but steel inner tip and if using against thin people it does nothing unless you have heart or brain hits. I knew from Panama the M885 would not take kids down so before deploying Jan 2003 I had our unit local purchase early OTM rounds and others. We had our C-5 as we came in early 3 Jan 2003 nothing had arrived yet with no camps set up. Once end of April 2003 started insurgents flooded Iraq and would prior to attacking take massive amounts of drugs. Unloading 30 rd mags on the skinny insurgent drugged did little with green tips. As fast as unit could unit reps were flying back to buy ammo that worked. Some people even had reloading equipment and I don't just mean hunter killer teams (snipers that hunt the enemy on their own ground with no major units for back up). Our ammo ran out and green tips sucked. I got wounded took almost 2 yrs to get back in the game. 2005 start of the year we landed in Kandahar, Afghanistan using only OTM 2 rounds.
I don't own an AR-15 and I have seen guys take several OTM rounds and still wound and kill several people. My advice if you so afraid of home invasions upgrade your house with what you can afford and start with door jamb, hinges and knob reinforcing kits. Put wood dowels in windows and if you have no little kids put boards full of long nails under windows. If you got money put outer security glass doors which come from ratings that slow down attackers with hammer to ballistic rated glass.Get security bars and no pick locks then put bars under door handles when home. Do not rely on police they may be protecting the guy trying to kill your family as he is their informant. Wear a gun indoors even to the bath room. I went through 4 major home invasions as a kid meaning people died and got wounded. No matter what gun you use keep shooting and reloading. Baseball bat, crowbar useless against guys on drugs/alcohol and adrenaline as criminals do not work they fight and work out. Even an AK won't always stop someone I know I took 2 rds from one with steal core ammo in Afghanistan 3 guys in that room left in body bags and I woke up later believed dead in Bagram but that was rectified by doctors. Look use something that shoots at least 1600 per second or more even some 12 ga buckshot can do that. Use semi-auto I have a Remington 1100, M-1 Carbine with hollow points even a Ruger 44 Magnum semi-auto Carbine. Do not store your gun for retrieval during awake hours. Only shoot to kill and not to scare a criminal because they are armed and shot back. Ladies get guns that fit you and don't go camping or hiking alone go with a group everyone armed concealed carry. Never open your door at night even for a cop. Call 911 and ask if officers have been dispatched to your home first and co0ps can be at the wrong house kill everyone and not get charged no law says you have to open your door.

These green tips are excellent for small/medium hog hunting within 150 yards. They penetrate the thick skin and leave a wound cavity right where the spine is behind the ear, you can remove the head with minimal effort. Knocks them stiff, no need for expensive hunting rounds.

you should have an expanding round for HD like the sierra blitz king. anything that will blow up the insides of a coyote will blow up the insides of a man too.

Something I gotta note is the damn muzzle flash from M193, even the cheap Winchester stuff sends some crazy fireballs out of my 16", occasionally I can see a spark in the ejection port a split second after firing.

It would be cool if you could test Winchester m855 against Norma ss109 for a comparison of European m855 loadings vs American. I believe this would be an interesting test to see if european versions are loaded similar. Anyways great video! 👍
