  1. If you options are no light at all, or a Streamlight.
    Please get a Streamlight.
Not having a light on your rifle makes your rifle useless 50% of the day
it's leagues above no light at all haha

but yeah like Garret said in the video. save up for a Modlight or Cloud Defensive if you can.
That candela throw is extremely valuable on a rifle light

  2. Biggest recommendation for the HL-X is to take off the pressure pad and never touch it again. It will fail, and when it does (God willingly) you do not need your white light. Just use the button. It works.

  3. Put an O-ring between the battery and the tailcap. This will help with the flickering under recoil.
The Cloud Defensive LCS is a nice piece to get for the tape switch.

    Arisaka lights are also affordable.

  4. Happy with my handheld HLX-usb, part of the same HLX family, except I had to source my own mount. Would recommend you get the one with the rechargeable; A) for the rechargeable, B) there was some issues before with the 2x CR123's flickering during recoil in certain builds or in the earlier HLX models, but even that was easily fixed with a spacer or stretching out the spring if I'm not mistaken.

  5. I was on a budget with my first home defense set up and snagged one of these for like $85 in 2018. Still sitting on the same gun, but have it mounted to an Hayley Strategic cantilever mount to reduce suppressor shadow and using the Arisaka adapter cap to run a modbutton. I've upgraded everything about that gun to near-Gucci status but I am still happy enough with Streamlight's performance that I can't bring myself to replace it
