My First Rifle Bushmaster XM15 Embarrassed But It Was A Different Time

In a galaxy far far away years ago during the clone wars this Bushmaster XM-15E2S was considered a good buy. Just after the Clinton era ban the market began to open up and innovate again. Everything was changing in the rifle world from handguards to parts kits. This rifle, now looked at as archaic, was on top of those new offering circa 2007. Unfortunately for Bushmaster a series of bad decisions, poor quality control and lack of sales led to a bankruptcy. But we are going to breath life into this old worn out work rifle yet. 1. I got my Bushmaster XM-15 in 2009 when my department decided to allow officers to carry AR15 rifles on duty. I took off the carry handle and put on an Eotech 512 holographic sight. I upgraded the grip and buttstock and outfitted it with a 100 lumen weapons light. The Bushmaster was accurate, reliable and I never experienced a malfunction. I still have the rifle today and upgraded it with a Primary Arms SLX 2.5 prism scope and a better weapons light.

  2. The early Windham guns are GTG are more desirable IMO…they are excellent basic rifles that do everything you need them to do. IMO the forgings are as good as anything out there, just without the bells and whistles and that is fine by me. The ORC is light and makes for a good truck gun.

  3. Remington (Cerberus) bought Bushmaster along with DPMS and ruined the name along with Marlin and went bankrupt from the trigger lawsuits (Remington) The reason the bayonet lug was cool even though useless on the 16 barrel and carbine length gas tube, it was one of the banned features from the Clinton ban.
I bought an ORC just after the ban I compromised as I really wanted the varmint rifle with 20” barrel free float fore end which was a solid aluminum tube with a knurled grip surface and the two stage trigger, but more than I really could afford at the time. the original BM factory is now Windham Weaponry! opened by former employees of BM after it was bought and they were shit canned!

  4. Mine was and still is an Olympic arms…i was old then and older now. Still have it, runs good enough for me. I have no real idea how many different makers and /or models ive gone through, but i still have several that i have really taken a shine to and one is a bushy. Not embarrassed at all.

  5. Maybe I'm nuts (or getting old?) but I don't understand what is so terrible about a nice, reliable, old AR15 like this?
My first AR was a Bushy 20-inch HBAR A2 and it was outstanding. Perfect reliability and probably the most accurate rifle I've ever owned.
    Peace.

  6. Lol!! That's why the call me OG at the range!! I got the bushmaster in 2019 and I love it. It's not loose though. But it is old school looking. But hey that's exactly what I wanted. It shoots like a dream. And hey I'm old! Sure it's not a Daniel defense or a BMG but it's a nostalgia thing. Freaking love it and get good results.

  7. I lived 10 min from the Olympic arms facility in Olympia WA. used to buy all finds of weird stuff there like remember tubular free float hand guard. My oddest find back in the day was at a garage sail. It was a 1974 Colt Sp1 sporter original lower with a fluted barrel and a Auro Precision upper. The upper was mil spec take down front pin and the colt was the large holed front take down holes. I remember i bought it for 500 bucks in 2006 from the guy. To mount the milsspec upper to a colt Sp1 you had to use a expansion cam pin adapter that broke every 100 rounds or so. I carried 4 with me just to go to the range lol. Terrible that the Sporter SP1 sold to the public had larger take down pin holes. Oh yeah and it was chambered in 223 .At one point early on I had 4 complete Olympic Arms upper – lower combos, cash out the door back in the mid 2000s 400 bucks a piece. Now i see Oly Arms are worth a bunch considering the conspiracy of the company selling out the back door while they had a military contract for production. I see nothing, I know nothing LOL

  8. This is my first AR upper untouched since 2007 I did have a preban bushmaster lower with a Wilson match 2 stage trigger but I used that lower now for a retro build. This barrel is 2" stepped down to 1" diameter its is an Olympic arms barrel and Olympic arms hand guard free float obviously, a steel GG&G rear flip up and a Yankee hill Machine Steel flip up front post with bayonet lug. topped with a Acog TAO31F first gen with the fun fun bible verse reference molded on the side on the side that was so controversial in its time of deployment in the middle east. This weapon is heavy, Its nasty, and dam accurate. I just tossed the old school Uncle Mikes tactical bipod and rail mount for the fun effect of photo, the flashlight is a old school Tacstar shit halogen bulb that eats a battery charge like a Disepticon consumes Energon and I still love her to this day. Heavy as a boulder rolling down a hill. Oh and i have the old school 3 point sling with the Uncle mikes picitin mounting rings, not pictured. This temptress has about 5k rounds through her 1-9 twist barrel and still is my most accurate AR, I attribute that to the Acog with the triangle reticle and range marks to 800 meters. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nrkTBamnrfF80KvdD7mgE6fSvpCo10xH/view?usp=sharing

  9. Lmao!! Your bushmaster looks brand new.. mine is a 1999 m4, and if yours has thousands of rounds through it mine looks like it has a hundreds of thousands of rounds through it. It served in the Tampa Bay sheriff's office back in the day. My charging handle has no finish left on it. And it still rocks. I would still trust it in a fire fight. I guess what I took from your review is that im older than I feel at 50. You young guys ar so spoiled!! 😆 but I do enjoy your videos. At ease troop. Spock out 🖖

  10. I have an XM-15 E2S with Magpul furniture, Vortex Strikefire 2, and a Surefire light. The whole set up ran me about $600. And it’s never given me a single issue. I guess I got lucky with a well staked gas key and aligned M4 style receiver/extender. Basically equals my service rifle in terms of performance so I see no need to upgrade, despite everyone hating on Bushmaster.

  11. Haven't been back on your channel for awhile. Watched a few of your videos. I think it's ironic that we own alot of the same stuff and brands. From canik to springfield to diamondback. Great everyman reviews. Have a classic bushy 25th anniversary edition that I keep around that my dad had since I was in HS in the late 90s. The first rifle AR I bought for myself was and S&W M&P 15 T with a quad rail when they first came out. Thought this was the hotness along with my SIG P226. How far we have come since the early gwot. 🤠

  12. My 1st rifle in an ( AR ) platform was when the the S&W M&P 15 Sport 2 hit the market -i threw a truglo 1×6 and had a ball with it,not one malfunction since i’ve had it.I just recently wanted to have some fun aesthetically and I brought it in to have it cerekoted a camo color/holosun 503 w/ magnifier/a nice light .I have to say,it’s my favorite in my collection.
till this day I have never had a issue with it.

  13. Bushmaster is a fine AR for me.
I purchased mine about 2 years ago, I then changed some of the furniture to a
Coyote Magpul. It's adequate for me buddy.
I'm saving to buy another AR, and I'm not sure what brand: maybe a Ruger AR.
Keep up your good work, I'm new to your channel brother!Roger that!!🇺🇸😊

  14. damn i had that exact one! and i think i got it in 09 not 100% sure. I sold it but the thing did run like and old typewriter, just chugged along. it wasn't my first but was a step up from my first which was a gun show "POS" lol. I now run a spikes crusader which at this point is probably looking a little dated but i love that gun lol.

  15. my 1st AR was bought with my re-enlistment bonus in 1994. it was a Colt Sporter for $2300. sold the upper and replaced it with an "Olympic Arms R15. I then bought a CMMG complete lower with a Rock River Recce upper. then bought a 6.8 to frolic about. traded it for a CMMG gas piston upper and added a blemished Daniel Defense lower. so many modifications , I don't know which is which.

  16. My first was the Bushmaster XM152k, fixed carry handle, A2 front post, standard A2 buttstock, AK style muzzle brake, no bayonet lug. I bought this in 1999 under the Clinton executive order ban. I have since replaced everything with Magpul furniture. I also added a Radian charging handle, along with some other upgrades. Looks totally different now as opposed to when I first purchased it back in 1999 with all the limitations we had. Still shoots well n I don't have a rattle since modifying the rifle.

  17. I still have my first bushy and mine runs great. I’ve shot over 2k rounds at least, mainly steel case and zero issues. I even rock the old bushnell holosight on it 😂, thing is still dead on nuts! I’ve upgraded to Aeros nowadays but hard to part with my ole bushy, lol.

  18. Bushmaster, Windham Maine made good rifles. It wasn't until the guys from NY bought it in 2006 and moved it to NY did Bushmaster suffer. Anything built in Windham, ME. is a good Mil Spec firearm.

  19. So I only got into guns about 3 years ago so I haven't worn a barrel down to needing to be replaced. What do you do with those old worn out barrels? Do you have them re-rifled or recycled or hang them on a Christmas tree? Curious what the consensus is.
