There’s so much misinformation and confusion around this term – let’s find out what it REALLY means.
AR-15 does NOT stand for “assault rifle.”
AR-15 does NOT stand for “automatic rifle.”
AR-15 simply means ArmaLite Rifle, 15 – a semi-automatic (one pull of the trigger = one round fired), civilian rifle created by the ArmaLite company in the 1950s.
Consider using the term “Modern Sporting Rifle” to avoid confusion with incorrect terms.

The media is dead set on suggesting AR is "assault rifle". They also have the belief that they are carried by our military. Manufacturers really aught to drop the AR15 name and pick up MSR. Is there a current copyright from Armalite? Can manufacturers use he platform and change the designation/name? Carbine sounds to military….lets go Sport Rifle!
