The Mutant looks like a typical AR-15 type rifle until a magazine is inserted. The Mutant is actually a unique rifle that’s built to be a hybrid of the AR and AK platforms, chambered in 7.62x39mm. Rob presents the features of the Mutant, examines its hybrid parts and talks about likely uses for the Mutant, including use as a personal defense weapon or home defense weapon, hunting and as a patrol rifle for law enforcement.

  1. Excellent talking points sir. You called it right on the appeal of this system. I can attest to reliability, no question there. It's as good as your training will allow it to be.

  2. its a nice rifle but in my opinion, its not a hybrid if you just take all the looks and operations from an AR and give it the Ak magazine, thats a conversion, and its not a very good conversion if you stick to your AR charging handle and leave out the bolt catch, i get that Ak magazines probably won't work with a bolt catch and if they don't you move the bolt to the sides of the receiver just like on the Ak, reaching back to the stock to chamber the next round in a new magazine instead of going to the sides wastes time if you're in a sticky situation, also you should've used a piston instead of a direct impingement system, you claim to use the reliability of the Ak but leave out one of the main systems that makes the rifle reliable and go to another system that failed tremendously in Vietnam, why do that ? and you also go with the classic stock that limits what you're able to use because you went with the AR's buffer instead of putting the spring in with the bolt like on the Ak or LR-300, this might just be a preference thing but i'd prefer that my rifle didn't limit me to using something with a buffer tube, i'd like for my rifle to allow me to use a folding stock, a fixed stock, or an adjustable stock
look it'll sell well for what you've done and i hope it does, but don't count me in as someone who'd buy one

  3. As an AK enthusiast, my only concern is reliably. How well does this system compare to an average AK that can eat up and spit out dirt, mud, and peanut butter? I was looking into buying the IWI Galil ACE, but this system looks amazing, and cheaper.

  4. Go watch mrgunsngear review. They tried to do a 1000 round torture test but ir kept jamming, double feeding, failure to feed, failure to eject and had trouble with some magazines not fitting. That is completely unacceptable for any firearm. Even a standard AR would do better. I think they need to go back to to the drawing board and fix the problems.
