Tomorrow, the Pima County Board of Supervisors will consider a resolution to repeal/challenge Arizona’s preemption statutes, Resolution NO. 2022 – 44.  This resolution falls in line with efforts by both Pima County and Tucson to pass local gun control ordinances. In 2017, the Arizona State Supreme Court ruled in the State’s favor, causing the City of Tucson to repeal an ordinance that was in violation of the state statute. Please use the take action button below to contact the Board and respectfully urge them to oppose Resolution NO. 2022 – 44.

Firearms preemption statutes reserve for the state legislature the ability to regulate firearms in an effort to create consistency statewide and avoid a patchwork of local ordinances. The Arizona Legislature enacted the state firearms preemption law in 2000, which has been modified and strengthened over the years, most recently in 2016. To learn more about firearms preemption, click here.

Please forward to your family, friends and fellow Second Amendment supporters asking them to take action to contact the Board and respectfully urge them to oppose Resolution NO. 2022 – 44.
