  1. Thanks for a great review. I have watched many on the p1000 as I’m definitely thinking of purchasing one. I Think this is the first review I have seen where the zoom is is shown (on the tripod) with the stabilization both on and off. Very helpful. Generally, we are always advised to turn stabilization off when a camera is on a tripod. In your demonstration, it appears the there is actually less shake at 3000mm with the stabilization on. Would you agree?

  2. I like your review sir, my heart keen to P1000, is it still valid to buy in 2021? RX10 is too expensive, P950 got lesser range but still good too, Canon SX70 is another option

  3. I have a p1000 and love it. The tips were great too, although, as a left handed fellow, I often have to use work around solutions to keep it steady…
    Take care,
    Greetings from Portugal.

  4. Remember this Camera does what it does for the price…If you want pro level picture quality camera and a big lens your in for huge costs..everything is determined by your wallet

  5. What is the difference in optical zoom vs. Digital zoom please? I'm a complete novice and have just bought a Lumix DC-TZ90 and I am going to buy the p1000 also

  6. Shame they put such a small sensor in it tho….hopefully the next one will come with a full 1 inch sensor….at nearly a grand this isnt a good camera…..

  7. Excellent review Eric ! Suggestion: In order to avoid camera shake at extreme telephoto, why not simply use the special Remote Nikon makes for the Coolpix P1000 and make sure the camera is mounted securely to a heavy duty tripod ?

  8. Thank you for a thoughtful and benchmarked review. It is not perfect but a pretty workable superzoom camera. I managed to get quite decent shots at short zooms with it too, so technically it could be a kinda all-around camera, but it's rather heavy to lug around when you are not shooting long distance. I keep a Lumix fz300 for most shots, much more maneuverable and less tiring at half the weight.

  9. Thanks for going to the trouble of doing an english version. Very helpful. How would you rate the overall sharpness of the lens compared to the other super zooms you have tested? Thanks

  10. Nice review, thank you!

Around 21:00 you say you need a 2nd camera for "normal" pictures…
I assume you say that because many other cameras make better pictures at normal zoom levels, but be aware that people who buy this camera are for sure not professional photographers (more like amateures or holiday photographers that like zoom) and already have accepted the quality that comes with the relatively small sensor in this camera and probably will be happy with the "normal" pictures as well.

    about the price…

These days there are (i)phones wich cost more then 1000 euro and people use them for 1 or 2 years and buy a new one. A camera normally lasts longer then that, so in my opinion its not that expensive for the fun you get.
