  1. Perfect timing on this video. Doing a 11.5 AR build which I will choose red dot with 3x magnifier. On my longer range rifles it's LPVO with one exception. My Fal rifle destroys scopes, so that red dot with 6x magnifier looks like the ticket.

  2. My only gripe with the pst gen 2 is the mag ring tightness. At its price point considering all the other pros, the weight is an acceptable con

  3. I use LPVO's mainly due to their etched reticles. If my battery died I want to be able to keep shooting. I've mostly gone away from red dots in favor of LPVO's and micro prism options because of this. A 6x magnifier is sure better than any 3x magnifier for my own situations and is a nice step toward red dot usefulness at distance. It still doesn't hit the marks I would want for a mid range "do everything" optic.

  4. Fantastic video. I’ve always leaned more towards LPVO’s because they just seem like a better all in one package…but recently when I had someone trying to break into my condo I was glad to have had my red dot mounted at the time. At no point during that experience was I thinking “Dang, I’d rather have an LPVO right now.”
So I guess that means that your choice should heavily depend on the purpose of the rifle.

  5. I have two ARs one with an lpvo/offset dot (viperpst2 /509TX2) the other with a red dot/magnifier combo (PA SLX cyclops gen 2 prism/ 3x magnifier) … I chose the cyclops prism because of a slight astigmatism and the fact that if the battery dies I still have the etched reticle!

  6. I had a red dot & Vortex Micro 3x magnifier but my eyes have an astigmatism and all the magnifier did was make the messy astigmatism dot bigger. It wasn’t any clearer so I went away from that combo to a 1-8x LPVO. It is definitely heavier but SOOO much clearer and I can have my stock fully extended which fits me better anyway. If I had an AR pistol I would still put the red dot on it and keep the magnifier as an option but it wouldn’t live on it like it did before. Great video, and keep up the good work!

  7. I’m very intrigued by how close the times were for these two setups. Basically seems like if you’re mostly shooting up close go red dot/magnifier versus if you’re mostly shooting at range get the LPVO.

My personal choice is the 1-10x LPVO. Mine weighs 20oz with a 5oz mount (OG Badger Ordnance mount). Not light but not overly heavy. I’m excited about the March Compact 1-10x for many reasons but mainly because it only weighs 16oz. 20% weight savings is great!

  8. Love it. I have LPVO’s, dot/magnifier, and traditional scope setups and how i differentiate is by barrel length and rifle purpose. On my 11.5” I run a dot with qd micro 3x magnifier. On my 14.5” I use a 1-6 LPVO. On my 18” I run a 2.5-10 scope with offset micro dot. If I had to just grab one rifle for (insert fantasy here) it would be the 14.5” with 1-6 LPVO as i believe it offers the greatest versatility.

  9. Love the “idea” of the LPVO… have a Viper PST… the glass is fantastic… but practically, especially as a non-professional shooter… I always seem to come back to the T2. Unity’s system allows you to drop the 3x straight down so it’s really out of the way and keeps the balance neutral. It’s been a game changer personally.

  10. Paul, look at low sun and burning buildings for background vs noon brightness( not suggesting setting fires). In my opinion fighting in bright/dark inside and outside of structures the only LPVO I would bet my life on is the Trijicon Green accupoint due to getting that reticle picked up no matter the light and shooter conditions. Great Work Cheers

  11. I got an compm4s/3x mag on my 16inch AR and a 1-4 S&B short dot on my G3 . Different guns, different "missions" but I'm really getting interested in that 1-6 pst. Great video as always lads!

  12. So I’m think for my 14.5 mid elw build I should probably go with the trijicon credo hx 1-6 sfp green dot & a scalarworks leap 1.93. But I really want to know how the new leupold patrol 6hd looks. Thanks for the awesome vids.
