Today, the House voted 94-57 to pass House Bill 1358, constitutional carry. It will now go to the Senate for further consideration. The Senate has already passed their own constitutional carry bill, Senate Bill 319. Governor Brian Kemp has stated his support for constitutional carry, so the General Assembly just has to send a bill to his desk. Please contact your state senator and ask them to SUPPORT HB 1358.

House Bill 1358 allows a law-abiding adult who is legally allowed to carry a concealed firearm, to do so without first having to obtain government permission. This ensures that citizens have the right to self-defense without government red tape or delays. Additionally, this legislation maintains the existing concealed handgun license system, so citizens who still wish to obtain a permit may do so.

Currently, there are 22 states that already have constitutional carry. Alabama’s Governor Kay Ivey just signed constitutional carry into law yesterday. That number will likely soon grow, as constitutional carry bills have passed the General Assemblies of Ohio and Indiana and are currently awaiting governors’ signatures.

The NRA thanks lead sponsor Rep. Mandi Ballinger, House Speaker Ralston, and all the co-sponsors for ensuring the House passed this critical legislation. Again, please contact your state senator and ask them to SUPPORT HB 1358.
