  1. LPVO non illuminated with BUIS is the only way to go, no BATTERIES to worry about lolI know some batteries will last for years BUT what if your life depends on that year they Die.. stay safe my Friend

  2. LPVO stands for "Low Power Variable Optic". It basically means that the scope starts at 1x magnification, (or close to it), and goes up from there.

Since LPVO's have been around since scopes were invented, (even before illuminated optics), how is it all of a sudden the wave of the future?

I've had, (for want of a better word), a 1x8x32 LPVO mounted on my Marlin Lever Action 30-30 since 1978 when I was a kid hunting in the forests of Washington state.
I still own and hunt with that gun/scope and I believe the rifle was $200.00 and the scope was around $69.99.
The only time I even turned it to 8 power was when I wanted to knock the wings off a fly, LOL.

I think that buying and trying the flavor of the month is a fruitless, (and very expensive), venture.
The same applies to the reticle you choose in your scopes.
Personally, I like the Mil-Dot reticles, (illuminated or not), because for 24 years that's all I used in the military and became very proficient with them.
I think having different rifle scope reticle types mounted on each of your different rifles is going to make anyone's learning curve, unmanageable at best. I for one would hate to have to remember which scope, (along with the different data it uses), was on what rifle.
Now you may like a different reticle and that's ok but sInce 1984, Mil-Dot's are the only reticle'ed scopes I have ever bought and I own quite a few of them at this time.

BLUF, To each his own but find what works for you and quit trying to keep up with the Jones's because unless you are Bill Gate's, (or a sponsored firearms company rep like Clint), you probably can't afford it…!!!

  3. The LPVO does everything the red dot/ magnifier combo does but much more. It’s hard to identify a threat at 300 yards with the naked eye. The LPVO allows great PID and you can engage at much longer distances to keep good stand off

  4. I’m about as trained as a new puppy but my Razor Gen 3 + offset aimpoint t2 is hella heavy and nowhere near as fast and forgiving as my t2 + magnifier combo. My opinion isn’t worth anything but I think red dots and holographics will continue to be preferred for CQB for a long time.

  5. Red dots, halo graphics, LPVO's all have their place, and some can even overlap. I see allot of people talking 45 deg/offset dots or Irons as well. Shooting with an offset optic takes some getting used to. The rifle does not react the same way, and depending on your muzzle device it can get really weird, especially if you try any prone side shots etc. I would try it out with a friends setup before I dumped coin into it and decide I hate it. Plus adding more snaggables to my rifle never ended well in the field. Just sayin.

  6. Def out of date, I’d actually take some precaution, as they could very well be expired, therefore raising the probably of erratic and irregular behaviour. Magnified dots can be quite elusive, especially when they’ve realized their utility has fallen to to a place that gives them little to no purpose in life. Ill do the right thing here, as any good neighbor would do, I’ll offer you a favour of accepting that 3x and EO, and while I’m bearing the burden of looking after them, I’ll also do this free of charge. Offer is on the table , but Red Dot Rehab is no joke, and it will def be the program for them. Magnifier Dot will strengthen their moral while being counselled daily @ Red Dot Rehab. After this 90 day program, a healthier, wiser, Magnified Dot will have changed his life for the better, realizing his utility is attached to Mr. 3x and the many targets he’s seen and hopes to see again, will appear once he brightens up his smile and turn away from the useless reticle he became . Magnifier Red Dot will be back at full strength if they so desire. Send optics to Red DOT REHAB, because we all have to have an aim in life .

  7. People get addicted to the zoom on a LVPO. Example his "right at the nose" shooting on 4X at 50 yards or less? That is fun and the accuracy is super nice…..on a range. Of the three I would choose the Eotech setup for that range and hitting that target center mass, while moving, in odd positions and under stress (run 100 yards to the same shooting point then try shooting).

Of those 3 rifles if you hear a bump in the night and one of those rifles was next to your bed….which one would you want? Eotech for me hands down, just push the magnifier out of the way and its on. Trying to get in the eye box of that LVPO at 3am from a waking noise, in the dark….no thanks.

  8. when I bought my first AR 6 years ago I already owned that Vortex Viper PST 1-4x. its been on my rifle to this day. since then I sometimes felt "under magnified" on my 16 inch barrel when the razor 1-6x HD came out in its bronze glory and all the 1-8 and 1-10s of today. thing is, my old 1-4x is very lightweight, still holds zero even after being dropped more than a few times, and has a lovely reticle thats useful for all my distances. its really nice to see this underrated optic on your video.

  9. LPVO’s allow ground troops using the M4 platform to have DMR capabilities and extend their effective range. Someday I can see LPVO’s making dots and magnifiers obsolete, but for now, dots reign supreme in close range.

But in a urban environment where you won’t take a shot past 300 yards, give me a dot and a magnifier all day.

  10. I run several optics on my rifles including Trijicon MRO, Aimpoint Micro T-2, EOTECH red dots, and the Nightforce ATACR 1-8, and Vortex Razor HD Gen III 1-10 LPVOs. I totally agree that LPVO is the future and if I could only keep one rifle/optic combination, it would be the HK MR562A1 with the Nightforce ATACR without a doubt. Option #2 would be the HK MR 762A1 with the Vortex 1-10. I find the offset optic unnecessary as one can quickly bring the power back to 1X and negate the need of another “ornament”! Good review indeed.
