Sourcing for cost control, availability capacity….,
It is the quality of both process. Not binary.
Mine just has an "A" stamped. Not splintered. Been a very good Rifle throughout the years. Interesting info though..
psa has the A
You obviously don’t know anything about metallurgy and forging. Stick to topics you know about, or do some research before you make a video.
Machining and quality control hands down will give you a long lasting firearm. The materials used in forging has already been in use for ages, and that recipe doesn't change. You get crappy machining or quality control and your going to have a bad day.
For most civilians, it doesn’t matter. Slapped together “mutt” rifles will serve the purpose. Nothing wrong with that. Battle tested is another thing.
my upper symbol is weird is says "L A R U E" hmmm
Cool, I learned something. I have some BEFE and just opened an AH upper for my next build 👍🏻
On my colt le6920 it’s stamped M4 on the front of the pic rail where the delta ring would match up
Thank you for the information
Pretty cool stuff.I learned a lot today,Thank You
Often wondered what these markings were
When I 1st looked into AR upper forge marks, I read that the best forge Co." are the ones that use the "keyhole", & the one that uses the "square" is the 2nd best. So of course I made sure to source "keyhole" or "square" marked uppers for my 1st couple builds. But, as the yrs went by & my AR building turned into an obsession, I eventually came to realize the very point u made in this video. That a quality mil-spec upper comes down to the machining & finishing process rather than the forging. Small attention to detail can make all the difference between getting a really nice upper, & one that just sucks.
I recently finished a color scheme build that I've always wanted, ODG w/FDE accents. Since my concern was def more with overall appearance rather than performance, it could def be considered a budget build. The upper I used was from DoubleStar that came as an ODG Cerakoted upper/lower combo that I found for cheap. Turned out that Doublestar made a very nice upper & lower. I was very impressed with overall quality of the fit & machining, especially with the upper. They also put a "10" mark (or "01" depending on how ur looking at it) on the takedown lug. Not sure what it means but I def found it kinda cool & unique. Another Co. I came across that would be considered cheap/budget but makes a solid product was AR-chitect. They made the ODG handguard I used & again, excellent attention to detail. The pic rails weren't like cheese graters like other cheap brands, & were scalloped giving it a high end look. The basic "machine gun" style vent holes looked great also. 10" HG for less than $80.
Man my "cheap" $60 upper is the same forge mark as your expensive stag arms my "cheap" psa and bca guns can hold 1in groups at 100yrds with the right bullet weight and quality ammo it can hold 2in with steel case good enough for me
Forging doesn’t matter, the finishing work does!!
My DPMS has the keyhole forge mark, not sure of the manufacturer date but I've had her since mid 2008
My AR-15 is made by Standard Manufacturing. I look to see what type of symbol mine had and mine looks like a bell. And of course there was no bell symbol discussed in the video. I watched the video hoping to know what mine was, yet I'm still left wondering, lol.
Just my algorithm comment let’s go Brandon… I really like BCM and grey ghost precision
Ford been around since 1920 and they anit worth K💩K💩 😆
If the forging isn't done right then your just putting lipstick on a pig . The forging is the foundation you build off of. Then you rely on quality machining. Just my 2 cents
Excellent topic!
My Granny used the LARGE diameter brass rods to clean grandpa's gun's sometimes, mostly I think they were just used to clean her pipe's!.. Lol
Thanks for the info.
And 90% of bolt carriers comes out of one shop.
I have uppers with no mark.
Meprolight is clearer than eotech imo
Cool info
The monolithic is not forged, it’s milled. That’s why there’s no forge mark.
Nope , nope and nope.
