Brownells Firearm Support Technician Caleb Savant is back to answer another of life’s nagging questions many of us have wondered about: What’s the correct position to mount a red dot sight on an AR-15? Mounting a non-magnifying red dot far forward on the receiver gives you better peripheral vision for situational awareness, and it helps balance out the weight of the rifle. However, Caleb advises keeping the optic OFF the handguard itself, so it’s easy to remove the ‘guard for cleaning. Since the handguard can shift around a bit under hard use, putting the red dot on the receiver also helps preserve the sight’s zero. With a magnifying optic, achieving precise eye relief (the distance between the back of the optic and the user’s eye) is mission critical. And if you’re using a magnifier with a 1x optic, you’ll need to leave enough room between the red dot and the rear of the receiver to install the magnifier WITH the proper eye relief.

Damn man you just took the lazy away this topic huh 🤷♂️ expected more from y’all!!! Lol
I’m pretty sure wherever you mount it and are able to hit the target is the correct spot
Perifial?
I put mine on the underside of the handguard… use it like pistol grip and then aim with the irons like god intended
whats the best position on a shotgun red dot?
common mistake. Periphial vision. It's peripheral as in periphery, try saying periphi-y
how to replace the red dot from 25m to 100m?
No
how about doing a video on correct height of a reflex/dot sight or scope height
That literally had zero useful information
The further forward you run your optic the more mechanical sway you'll have..
The only information I think should've been added at the end is a summary of optimal eye relief in different situations.
pe·riph·er·al
My mans haircut straight out of 1952 lol
Annoying drumbeat gives me a headache
Peripheral not peripheal
Further forward the red dot the quicker the pickup thats why wrf and swat put their red dot forward of the receiver…. this is a video PayPal dumbass who how no actual combat experience….. the kind of idiot who would tell you not to have a weapon light
Well put!
