  1. I don't see the ammo being "much much" cheaper than 5.7×28.
Just a couple years ago, I was buying that American Eagle junk on sale for around $12.50 per box of 50.
I just pulled the projectiles, loaded them back up with my own worked up Bluedot load & reseated the projectile.
That gave me some high performance ammo for not much more than 9mm price.

  2. There very little to go on in terms of performance with this cartridge other than anecdotal evidence that the cartridge was really only effective when multiple rounds were fired- purportedly under full auto. IMO the 5.7mm is already an underpowered cartridge in terms of muzzle energy and energy on target. This is obvious when shooting steel swinging challenge targets where the reduced impact is not on heard but seen as the reduced energy delivery is often as inability to swing the targets. The 4.6mm was referred by NATO testers as "a bridge too far".
It saw use mainly in the HK PD-7 where it was mostly effect in full auto but mode – limiting its practical use to full auto or select fire platforms. Lastly if 5.7mm users find that round expensive and hard to find, the 4.6 will likely be more of the same or worse.

  3. Good luck trying to find ammo. Nothing on Ammoseek this date. Saw some Sellier & Bellot for $2.50/per though sold out. If manufactures are promoting new models that use "non-standard" calibers, they should take some responsibility to make ammo available. …..no, ammo supplies will not pick up and costs will remain high with little 4.6×30 market penetration besides above average CMMG prices.

  4. Love anything CMMG produces…that being said, I’ll probably skip this one but my Banshee in 9MM is awesome plus I reload and 5.7 IMHO a difficult round to reload…I can only imagine how sensitive the 4.6 will be, plus finding components…but your review was great 👍👍👍

  5. This sounds pretty great but it makes me wonder why somebody didn’t try making, say, a 5.56x30mm round. Talk about quick acceptance! Seems to me reloaders would only need a new sizing die and you should (remember this suggestion is not long thought out) have a pistol lacking the blast of the 5.56x45mm. Using some existing components, powder maybe, cleaning tools and better indoor use seems like a winning program.

  6. The 5.7 case has a polymer/lacquer coating on it that is needed for most of the 5.7 action types. This coating while adding steps to manufacturing isn't something (from my research) that's hard to apply. (steel case ammo already has a form of this). The 5.7's advantage IMO comes from the fact that is uses literally any .224" diameter bullet from 32-62gr (excluding M855/A1- super long bullets).

  7. 😂 I’m too cheap to pay 40 cents a round for 5.56. No way in hell’s creation I’m spending 70+ on new stuff I can’t find ….but I like the fact you’re giving us new content. Interesting gun.
