What do the numbers and letters on a camera lens mean? In this video I will cover the basic lens letters, numbers, and abbreviations for Nikon lenses for beginners PLUS some other common abbreviations and letter codes that note important features of lenses, such as focus motor type and lens coatings. By the end of this video you will know the difference between DX and FX lenses, which lenses have built in focus motors, what the focal length (mm) numbers mean, and how to determine the maximum aperture values for a lens.
