How to install an ambi safety on an AR-15 with the minimum of fuss and muss. An ambidextrous safety on an AR-15 sporting rifle is a good upgrade, especially for left-handed shooters.

I can’t believe I almost Paid a shop $60 to do this. And two different shops said it would take an hour smh.
I need to go the other way. I have an ambi on my Ruger MPR but it's uncomfortable being on the right side as I'm a right shooter.
Excellent video. Thank you
I’m lefty but I’d rather use the right handed safety. Good to be familiar with something uncomfortable and to have to do this with multiple firearms just isn’t possible. I use the inner channel of my index finger and jolt it forward or down depending on where the safety is set I can do it pretty fast after some practice while maintaining good trigger discipline
Glocks and all pistols with a safety on the trigger should be pulled off the market and companies need to recall and fix these with standard safeties or issue new weapons!!! Also all ambidextrous safeties need to be removed as they can very easily be switched off without the knowledge of the owner!!!
Thanks for the great video. This really helped me a lot.
so where do u apply lock tide
Thanks!!
Thanks, I'm making my AR fully ambidextrous with a Stag Arms upper and this is the last step. One nice feature of my Mini-14 is it came from the factory with an ambidextrous safety in the trigger guard, but otherwise the versatility of the AR platform is unbeatable.
Plain, simple and informative. Thank you sir!
Excelente
What brand and model safety was that. I’m trying to find a decent one that has levers that are the same size on both sides like that one. thank you
Great job sir!
Anyone here have any recommendations for particular brands or styles/types of safeties?
Lefty needs to change the safety on a Windham Weaponry to ambi or move the non-ambi safety to the right-hand side of the rifle for lefty thumb control
Have Anderson AR, installed an Anderson ambi safety on it, will not move. Any ideas? Looks like detent pin locks in groove.
Great tutorial and that safety is pretty much the exact kind I plan on getting, pretty much same size on either side vs some other ambi safeties that are smaller on one side than the other. Thanks.
WOW! THANK YOU!
Yep, lefty rifle, righty pistol, here. Thanks for making this.
This still helped me in 2020. Thank you!
Excellent video.
Excellent video. Used it today! Thanks
Thanks for the video. I was looking for a simple installation video.
Nice now I can finally use the safety like a normal righty! Its a tough world for us leftys haha
Very helpful thanks
What size is that T handle Allan wrench?
Really great video. I was trying to find an install guide for the Talon ambi, and none of the Talon-specific videos were informative enough for a newbie. This video explains perfectly and shows how easy it is. The steps are the same for any safety — just the manufacturer of your safety may require you to use their provided detent, etc. Thanks.
Edit: I see you recently had some health issues. I hope all is well. Thanks again.
Thanks for the tip on cocking the hammer to get the safety selector out!!
Thank you for such a clear and concise instruction.
Nice, quick and to the point. I was stuck doing this for the first time on my AR and didnt realize i needed to mess with the trigger. Once i did that, it came right out.
Sorry, but about the blue loctite? didn't you put it?
No BS tutorial, thank you!
Never did anything past a field strip. Watched the video, did the change out, checked for function, all good. Thank you, Sir!
Okay so I’m left handed and I want to build an AR but left handed and ambidextrous lower receiver cost double sometimes triple the cost of right handed receivers and watching this video it looks like I can make a “right handed receiver” somewhat ambidextrous at least the safety selector
This video is 5+ years old yet it is just as informative as the day it was posted. Excellent job Sir explaining each step in a format that was easy even for a antique highschool dropout such as myself to follow. Truly appreciate you pointing out those little pieces ahead of time (like the spring) before it went sailing across the room as well as explaining the direction the detent goes back in. Reading through some of the comments below it sounds like a couple people might have inserted the detent backwards?
I truly feel for any left hand shooters. When I got drafted the Army had just switched over from M 14's to M 16's. One of my fellow draftee's who happened to be left handed got a "hickey" on his neck from hot brass every time he pulled the trigger. I wonder if Colt ever got that problem fixed?
If I only use one side of the ambidextrous safety it moves from safe to fire with normal resistance.. if I put both sides on it’s incredibly difficult to go from fire to safe. Any ideas why this is? Any input would be much appreciated thankyou!
Have a question have a core AR-15 with 150 rounds through it added an ambidextrous DPMS safety at Round number 35 and had an issue with it.
Trigger does not want to reset.
It only resets when I turn the safety?
Any help would be appreciated thank you
Thanks Matt!!!! You're the best!!!!
what brand is the ambidextrous safty lever
After I install my trigger in my AR lower. I can no longer put my safety through the hole in receiver. Trigger sear is parasitically blocking hole. Tried it with and without hammer cocked. Any suggestions?
