Our man with his finger on the pulse of the new product scene, Paul Levy, tells us about a Triple Threat from Midwest Industries – THREE innovative new items for popular guns. The ultra-slim Combat Handguard for AR-308 rifles has a Picatinny rail on top, rows of M-LOK® slots at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock – and a plethora of QD sling swivel sockets. You’ll never find yourself complaining you can’t find the perfect spot to attach your sling! It comes with its own barrel nut that has clever anti-rotation provisions, and the whole shebang is extremely easy to install on your rifle. Midwest’s Picatinny Rail Optic Mount for the H&K MP5 and clones (including the new SP5) is a sturdy, compact, red dot mount that won’t interfere with your MP5’s charging handle. Last from Midwest Industries, the Picatinny Stock Tube Adapter is basically a faux receiver extension (buffer tube) you can install on any firearm that has a Picatinny rail interface at the back of the receiver for a stock or brace. MI’s product lets you install any AR-15 brace or stock on one of these guns. The Magpul® DAKA® Takeout pouch is a handy kit bag to stow your stuff for a trip to the range – or just to de-clutter your vehicle. It’ll even clip to your backpack or web gear.

  1. Just bought me the 12.625" .308 low profile for my PA10…I like the anti rotation and torque plate…allows the barrel nut to be any position, so torque can be 50-60 ft/lbs…much better than their older SS series where the barrel nut needed to be perfectly aligned…

  2. You guys are supposed to be one of the authority’s in the gun world, you of all people should know it’s a called Mil STD 1913 or 1913 rail. Calling it a Picatinny rail is like calling a magazine a clip.

  3. I don't know if I'm comfortable using the gas tube as my anti-rotation system. There's a reason that most free-float rails hahave anti-rotation tabs that grip the OUTSIDE of the upper receiver, rather than just gripping the gas tube. If you have, say, a vertical grip on this, and it takes a hard lateral hit, it could crush the gas tube, then the gun becomes bolt action….if it doesn't cause a catastrophic malfunction…..
