Around a year ago I began looking at budget AR-15 setups as a service to our Warrior Poet community and so I could start stockpiling less expensive guns. I bought my first Palmetto State Armory rifle and I made a video on my initial thoughts. While the gun ran without issue and held a group, I was upset to find an odd recoil impulse that through of the timing of my shooting. In this video I talk about the fix, and what I’ve gathered about Palmetto State rifles since then (as I’ve been buying them more and more).

I know this is an old video, but my question is, how is the annoying recoil impulse compared to the issued M4 when you were in the Rangers?
Your DD is milspec man. 😂 it’s literally no difference then a “psa” or any other milspec. This elite mindset just makes u waist money on a logo. DD I have is nice but it’s nothing super special. It’s great for people like

The whole DD is best is bs I’m sorry I own DD geissele super duty and a custom psa build and I’d choose my custom psa build over both. It’s got 0 wobble between upper and lower. It’s smooth as better when racking the action. Best gun to date.
What did you switch out the buffer and spring to?
PSAs customer service is worse than their products.
2021 PSA rifles are around a grand…yeah.
It shouldn't have had to be changed…… unless we are talking about Glocks then we will ignore every single modification and still say Glocks are superior even though there is nothing stock left on them.
I’ve got one of the PSA premiums, FN CHF chrome lines barrel and I’ve got to say it feels pretty nice. I’m running a radian raptor CH and a Sharps XPB BCG. It is very smooth, everything feels tight, Nothing rattles. Just feels like a quality rifle.
The only thing that I feel like I could improve is the MIL-SPEC trigger.

Palmetto is like a camry. The expensive AR.is like a Porsche. I own a camry but if I could afford a Porsche I'd get one.
What spring and weight did you use to correct the problem?
I can't afford anything better than PSA. I'm super poor man, and I work like 80 hours a week.
I like PSA and Radical Firearms. PSA ships their ammo super sloppy tho

Any ideas on the buffer/spring combination?
PSA is probably better than any AR I ever fired in the military; on the days we would qualify we would hunt for cigarette butts in the parking lots, break open the action and put the butts where all the loose spots were.
Picky. Guns are so good today its easy to nit pick little crap like recoil impulse. Back when Joe Biden was out shooting his flintlocks against the union army now those guns had issues.
What weapon light is that?
Invest strategically. The higher end stuff is great but i dont think you always need it for everything, ie 300aac short range ars will not benefit as much from a bartlein, lilja or kreiger barrel like a 1000 yard 6.5 will for example. Or you wouldnt put a smidt and bender scope on a 300aac either… Its up to the buyer though.

I see now why PSA has such a loyal following! They are a company on a mission that is all about America and its liberty. Mine has run well and the upgrades have pleased me. Great company in my humble opinion!
No….If you do not have a tone of money do not buy a Palmetto State Armory rifle. If you get a lemon they will stick you with it. They will jump through logical hoops to not replace the gun. If you are a youtuber and someone that could do damage to their reputation sure they will make it go away, but for normal people they have a policy of not replacing guns that are defective.
I am not an elitist. I bought PSA. I am speaking from experience. I am done with them. They also take all the fresher new milled receivers and use those for their complete guns. They send out all the marred and less than smooth receivers to builders. They just pump out garbage. And right now, April of 2021, they are pumping stuff out so fast their QA has just become non existent. If you accept product from them and do not see the defect before accepting it, they will deny replacing the item. Its a scam at this point. Just ship bad product and do their best to prevent it from coming back.
I cannot believe WPS would give PSA any respect. Its not how they operate when things are slow and easy to do good QA, its how they operate when times get crazy. Do they maintain their standards and reject and replace as needed, or do they just ship everything and use customers as their QA?
Do yourself a favor buy any other budget lower….or do yourself a solid and just get the BCM and never look back.
