  1. Based on your comments at the outset, I'm guessing this is for the new job. On that assumption, I would be carrying it loaded with that Federal Gold Medal Match load… just because we know we NEVER want to be using handloads in a duty situation. Too many legal entanglements there. Wish they were still legal in my jurisdiction… but maybe, once the court cases are finished and IF our side wins, I might actually be able to consider getting something along these lines. (Funny thing… up until the regulation change last spring, these were actually more attainable in Canada than in the US, due to how they were legally classified. SBR's up here are simply classified as pistols. No BS over stocks vs. braces etc.)

  2. I don't blame you for paying a pro to assemble the lower. There are tools now available that didn't even exist in 1972-82 when I was in the US Army. Geoff Who has some of those tools, just in case.

  3. Another Good video. I was interested on how it performed with the heavier grained bullets. I built a 10.5 AR pistol using mostly PSA parts a couple of years ago. I have experienced zero issues. I have put only about 500, 55 grain 5.56 through it. But after seeing your results I'm going to try heavier rounds. Thanks. Blessings brother

  4. Very Entertaining and informative, and I always look forward to the Tack Driving!
My jaw dropped when I saw that Tack disappear! Now you've got me wanting one of those!
PSA makes good stuff and they were at one time, the original Bushmaster.
Also, having built several AR15's, I can easily assemble the Lower myself.

  5. I'm from the UK so apologies in advance. That looks like a rifle. You put it to your shoulder and shoot it like a rifle. It's carried on a sling not in a holster. If I saw someone walking down the street with one I'd say "there's a guy over there with a rifle". I suppose it could be a pistol in the same way an H&K MP5 is a machine pistol (MP). However it fires the 5.56mm NATO rifle cartridge. I'm confused.

  6. Looked good…I’ve got a 7.62 long range dmr itch I’m havin a hard time not scratchin…love your m1 stuff and old sp1s….uncle had one in the 80s with a 3×9 on the handle that pointed like a ballpoint pen…20” 1/10 if I recall

  7. I bought 2 of those a few years back. Same thing, kit form: had a local FFL/ Armorer build them. Great video, and Thanks for the info regarding their preference for heavier bullets.

  8. Great video! That tack didn’t have a chance! PSA makes some good equipment for the price. I have several PSA items and have only had one issue with a bolt carrier.
Very impressed with your handloads. Nice shooting!

  9. Great Video! I have a couple PSA stripped lowers that are now part of pistol builds. One of those has the PSA 7.5" completed upper in .300 BLK. Before I built out the lowers I gauged everything and found them to be very high quality and well within spec. In my experience, I also believe PSA makes great products for reasonable prices.

  10. Great video, HR, and I must add your joy in this AR’s quality β€” and especially it its accuracy β€” is infectious. Seeing your smiles, particularly on the range and with the single round tack-driver, very effectively expressed a lot that words can’t fully articulate.

I heartily agree with your selection of the 10.5 inch barrel, for β€œgas tube reliability,” as well as velocity and accuracy. The extra few inches in the weapon’s length, imho do not adversely effect utility and handiness, but do have a small positive impact on velocity and accuracy and a potentially a larger favorable effect on reliability.

FYI, Paul Harrell β€” who I believe is one of the VERY best in our community β€” has a fairly recent video ( https://youtu.be/z06pAJciuNI ) that assesses AR velocity and accuracy decreases with shorter barrels. His conclusion, with which I fully concur, is within reasonable ranges (I’d suggest somewhat over 150 yards) the losses in accuracy and velocity are measurable, but basically inconsequential. All if this suggests to me that this AR pistol is a superb plinking, defensive, target shooting and even hurting (Ohio deer) pistol (although I’d personally prefer a 16 or greater inch barrel for hunting).

THANKS again for this fun, informative and invigorating video. With warmest abiding regards – Roy
