Final Thoughts/Follow Up: EOTECH G45 5x Magnifier (no wind or outside noise distractions)

Wasn’t planning on making this video, but decided that due to the noises and wind at the range (not to mention trying to talk clearly though a face diaper) as well as trying to cover what was happening while it was happening it was worth making a video inside, where it was quiet and with no face mask so you can clearly hear my thoughts about what I experienced with the G45 magnifier.

I already have it listed for sale as it’s not my cup of tea. Will contact EOTECH and Brownell’s later in the week to explore return/exchange options. Very rare for me to part with something I waited so long for and with such high anticipation and or expectations based on past history with the G33. Truly disappointed in this product and I cover why in the video.

The front, lower right corner of the box states “Adjustable Diopter-Precise Focusing”. Not with the unit I had in my hands. No precise focusing for my unit. Based on my version of the G45, me thinks this is not going to be a very successful product for EOTECH, unless I got a rush to market lemon.

  1. I'm not a fan of mine either. Pain in the ass to actually get your eye on point. Feels like you're trying to line up through a rifle scope. My reticle also doesnt stay centered, no matter how often I use the dials to recenter, I can flip it to the side and flip it back and its off center again. I also have the exps2 in green. Let me know what they say. I might send mine back to eotech as well. It was brand new in box but I got it secondhand and not from eotech directly.

  2. Thanks for posting your series of videos on the G45! Very insightful, but disappointing to hear! 🙁 Quick note and question….. you mentioned you wear tri-focals as a "throw away" comment in this video. I wear progressive lenses. By chance did you try to look through the G45 glass while not wearing glasses? I have found that when looking through various optics with my glasses on, and particularly at higher magnification, I don't always get a clear sight picture (regardless of diopter ring settings). When I take glasses off – boom – crystal clear (with the right diopter ring setting). I'm curious to hear if you observe the same thing with the G45 and your tri-focals.
