Streamlight Protac Rail Mount 1 : This flashlight feels like it should cost as much as surefire. Fit and finish is perfect. Its definitely 1k lumens, the throw on it is extremely good, the spill is rediculous, this light room clearing and on the range offers reliability and functionality. 👉 Tape switch is extremely tactile and doesn’t feel spongey. The light comes with everything you need to use it. Switch mounts, batteries to zip ties. The pressure switch is around the same size as surefires DS-SRO7. Its definitely larger though putting on alot more weight. All things considered 10/10 recommend if your are trying to decide this is it.

I agree with you, this light works well on an AR pistol platform. It won't water your eyes with its brightness, but it is more than adequate, especially with the pressure switch and hardware included. If you are looking to put a light on a carbine or rifle sized platform, the Protac Rail 2 is a better solution, double the lumens for a few bucks more, granted, it's a larger form factor. Both the Protac basic lights come with all you need to mount with pressure switch, and both are IPX4 water resistant with remote pressure pad installed, IPX7 waterproof with button tailcap installed. The idea is to mount a light that wont fail on you, a lot of the cheaper stuff is sketchy, the GI grade stuff is really expensive, this is a middle solution. The protec line now has 1000 lumen models, and the top of the line is USB rechargeable. The Protac1 dual fuel (takes AA battery) is the only light in the line that does that, and that is a very nice option and executed very well.
