Tips on how to properly install a low profile gas block on an AR platform.
Like and CLICK THAT BELL!
Notes:
-25-30 inch lbs. torque on gas block set screws
-Small amount of red loctite on screws
If you use quality parts you will have less issues.

Great video , I’ll pass you around .
On my first upper build. Doing it with only hammer and roll pin punches. I put the pin in partially with the punch that wrapped around it. Then used the 2nd punch to put it the rest of the way. Long story short the roll pin bent and split. Assume I moved the tube so wasn’t lined up. Anyone know the roll pin size because I need to buy some extras now.
Danny mcbride is that u?
Thank you so much for the upload and great work 😀
Good info. Thanks!!
Great stuff
I'm old…lol. And just bought my first Ar-15, an Apache Armaments upper and lower. Can't seem to find much online about it, or the company. What I did find tells me I paid waaay to much for the upper! Lol. Watching videos to lean all I can. I haven't even disassembled it to lube it up before I shoot it. My first 5.56, I have been shooting 7.62 for decades! Decided it was time to see what all the hype was for…
Red Loctite??? Oh God no!!! Besides Red Loctite is only good up to 450 F, which is why you need to heat it up with a torch if removing the screw. Any rapid firing AR platform can reach that temp. If I NEVER intend to remove the gas block again, I "might" use Red, if there is any chance that I'm gonna need to remove the block I wouldn't use Red Loctite.
As a side note, I've heard that you can use Brake Parts Cleaner to dissolve Red Loctite. Just spray it on and let is soak for about 45 mins. CRC was the brand that was mentioned. I haven't tested it myself, but there are Youtube videos about it.
What determines the need to reduce gas pressure? Would simply swapping to a slightly heavier buffer do the same job?
Very good explanation!! Would be a great idea to include links to the parts and tools you use…thanks for taking the time to create the video, very clear explanation!!
how tight should the gas tube fit? I'm trying to install my gas tube to the gas block but the gas tube won't go in at all. Thanks
Thank you sir
Nice video! I may have missed it, but what barrel is that?
No roll pin punch in front of me??…I'm a regular joe and I only use roll pin punches on the roll pins on my rifles. A regular punch will always work though.
Dude your voice is mesmerizing. Technical, informative, exactly what I need to do, exactly what I needed to see & hear!
Awesome video. Exactly what I needed to see. Thank you.
Okay my pin is stuck halfway in and i've pinched it, wacked it, lubed it and pulled it and its not moving, any tips?
I have gas issues every day
What watch is that?
Built an ar recently. When I was shooting I got carbon on my thumb from gas coming out of the gas tube roll pin. Is that normal? My ruger mpr also has gas marks on the handguard near the roll pin from the same thing.
Tips on keeping the holes aligned for roll pin? I drove my pin into my gas tube misaligned and now its stuck! Stupid
Heat removes red loctite. Like 308 gas block hot.
"…or hunting…" or storming the capitol
3:14 nice
I have a NBS 16" 5.56 NATO 1:7 Twist Black Nitride Mid-Length Barrel. it has a .750 gas block journal. It actually measures .749. I ordered an assembled .750 Low Profile Micro Gas Block And Mid Length Gas Tube. It actually measures .748, so it only slides up the barrel a couple of inches before stopping. Anybody else run into a situation like this, and if so how did you overcome it? some people i have talked to about it have said freeze the barrel and heat the gas block. Or would it just be easier to try another .750 gas block?
Would i need a low profile gas block if i want a 15 hand guard on my m&p 15?
You say the loctite is not permanent and can be removed with heat. If that’s the case, when firing the rifle, won’t the barrel get hot and then the loctite also get hot and will no longer be securing the threading?
Great video !!!
