Streamlight vs Olight vs Surefire
Surefire

The SureFire story begins in 1969 with the power of the laser for industrial applications.  As most businesses grow, part of the owner’s hobby and passion, shooting, got incorporated into his business.  In 1979, SureFire patented a laser sight for weapons.

Over the next many years, the company worked to serve law enforcement’s needs for a weapon-mounted flashlight.  Soon after the SureFire WeaponLight was born, and low-light law enforcement and military operations would never be the same.  The SureFire name and reputation for quality with excellence took the company to the top of the law enforcement and military contracts.

Surefire currently serves the needs of law enforcement, combat arms troops, and even Special Operations Forces across the world.  There is a known quality with the product, but that does come at a cost.

Olight

Olight is was started around 2008 and has been focused on quality, pride in technology and a 5-year warranty that takes care of customers.  Olight sells a wide variety of lights that are affordable but useful for EDC, law enforcement, military, and outdoor hobbyists.  Olight creates great quality but keeps the prices closer to what budget-minded civilians are willing to pay for a good light.  Olight also has weapon-mounted lights that are excellent for home defense and concealed carry.

Streamlight

Streamlight started in 1973 with the approach that they would listen to customers and build what they wanted.  Customer feedback is what drives the company to work to improve. Customer service has been the main goal of the company and it shows. They are connected to their main audience and strive to give them everything they want.  Streamlight guarantees its products to be free of defects, including LED, for a lifetime of use.

  1. I use the protac HLX as weapons lights on my ar9 and ar15 carbines. My edc light is a nebo red line rechargeable 450 lumen light. I've also got a 3200 lumen light also. The two flashlights are very great and have great throw. And having adjustable beams they throw anything from a tight beam to a spotlight beam. I like both lights and they preform well. Today's lights are a great improvement over lights from 5 or 10 years ago.

  2. No body seems to be concerned about long term reliability; it's a shame. The last thing you want is to be using a light in a pinch and have it fail like WOWTAC has for me. Support is also an important feature, WOWTAC is only China based support, with no North American contact.

  3. Olights get too hot as they seem to be used for short bursts. For me I use lights for extended periods and for that my edc is fenix pd36r as I get on 800 lumens on high for 5 hours and it doesn’t get nearly as hot as olights.

  4. It bothers me greatly that many companies dont advertise the difference between lumen and throw distance. You could have an 700 lumen light that reaches out to 800 yards, but then you could get a 1,000 lumen light that can barely reach 100 yards. Makes it hard to buy when you cant accurately gauge how bright it is, how much splash it has, and how far it throws the beam.

  5. I'm not familiar with other brands honestly. Great reviews. Olight is all I've carried since getting into flashlights. You needed a seeker 2 pro to flood that garage with light on turbo.

Double tap for turbo and triple tap for strobe. M2r also has tactical mode. Half press for turbo and full press for strobe

  6. I'm pretty sure the wowtac has a turbo setting as well and you weren't getting the full power of the light.
I have 2 different wowtac models and both of them have a turbo setting. If you click once it doesn't turn on full power.

  7. The seeker2 pro would out perform all those. Its is 3200 lumen on turbo. And 15 for moonlight with different power levels in between. I think it's the better to best all around light. Its wide beam covers very well and it still has good distance of throw. The turbo is ridiculously bright and it reaches 100yards very well. And it's small for the amount of light and run time you get.

  8. I have two of the Olight S1R Baton 2 in different colors i love them for a EDC flashlight hooks on ball cap great so bright for such a small light. I also have the Oliight M2R Pro Warrior awesome light great light to attach to a AR15 rifle with the pressure switch that you can buy for it. Can't go wrong with Olight flashlights. I would recommend anyone interested in Olight buy them when they're on sale. I wait till the light i want is on sale before i buy one from them.

  9. Noticed you had the note about the April 10th flash sale on Olight. It started at 12:00 midnight. I was interested in purchasing a light but unfortunately their website crashed at 5-seconds after Midnight. I played around for half an hour and then gave up. I've learned in the past to never attempt a credit card purchase on a crashing site unless you want to have duplicate charges while not receiving any merchandise. Oh well, maybe next time.

  10. Flashlight companies like to use lumens in their marketing as a way to sell lights. People need to be mindful of the specs on the box. Candela or lux will give you a better idea of how bright the light will be and is more of a constant. The higher the lumen the more the light is being spread out in all different directions. The higher the candela, the more focus beam will be used for throw. The S1R is rated 1000 lumens inside 150 meters while the M2r pro is rated 1800 lumens at 300 meters but the S1r has 5200 candela while the M2r pro has 22000 candela. I like watching your channel about reviews of power tools and OPE, if you think of flashlights like a leaf blower we all know that cfm is what really matters. Think of the candela as the cfm of a leaf blower and lumens as the mph.
