CMMG MK9 || Finally! Colt Mags

CMMG released its radial delayed blowback 9mm home defense pistol setup some years ago.
This system reduces recoil and increases efficiency of operation over traditional straight blowback offerings. The only review criticism I had was that it was built around the glock magazine. Now that has come full circle and the banshee MK9 is here with colt mags for testing.

  1. I bought my Mk9 direct blowback maybe 4 years ago. CMMG shipped it w/ an ASC 32-round stick mag. Worked great. Then I went and bought 3 of the "same" Colt SMG mags from Brownell's. Now I buy a lot of stuff from Brownell's and I'm usually 100% satisfied, but I returned the SMG sticks because the first one I tried didn't work reliably with quite a few FTFs and FTEs. So I called CMMG and they corroborated what I'd found. They told me the ASCs just plain work. Well, they do. I have about 10 of 'em, including a few 20 rounders, and I have never been happier. Now would I like the newer RDB gun better? Hard to tell, especially since my MK9 with 8.5-inch barrel runs so well. Kinda also don't want a shorter barrel in such a small caliber. I think doubling the barrel length of most 9mm pistols makes the Mk9 perfect with a longer barrel. My Mk9 is gonna be with me a LONG time.

  2. Glock mags are much more reliable, like one commenter said he can use even his Glock 26 magazine and the Glock 18, 32 round capacity. I have read a bunch of reviews of people have horrible time with Colt 9mm magazines because the feed lips tend to either sit too high or sit just right. One guy bought 15, and had 8 Colt magazines work fine and 7 completely not work because the bolt was making contact with the feed lips. I would prefer to use a magazine that is made to specification every time all the time. Yes the colt magazines look great but when it comes down to life or death I would prefer the Glock magazine that it perfectly made every time.

  3. I don't get the glock mag obsession besides wanting them to match a handgun you already own. It just seems like glock pcc's are shoehorned into a system and not meant for it. Imo. I personally don't have a glock so I could care less. Maybe id feel differently about it I had one. Idk. Colt mags look cooler too

  4. great video. love the CMMG! got to disagree about the Colt mags. I think Colt magazines look WAY better, but…. I can find Glock magazines. can get different capacity of Glock Magazines. (I keep a Glock 26 magazine in mine to give it a smaller profile.) Of course use Glock Magazines in a Glock. And, last but not least Glock Magazines don't rust!! seams you can now get one that uses Sig 320 magazines? also, please do something on the Bowers suppressers. please stay safe and keep the videos coming.

  5. Really the mods to make a RDB upper work on a Colt mag lower are pretty simple. I followed a few guides from Reddit and c3Junkie. I even made an extended feed ramp out of delrin. I ordered the factory upgrade parts to swap out the ones I modified. I’ve emailed CMMG about the barrel change to make it work on a Mk9 lower, but the only explanation I got was it was a headspace change of some kind. I’m not an engineer, don’t claim to be, but why would headspace need to change if all that is changing is the magazine feeding device?
