are forging companies using equal quality of raw material….or are there some that are really better than others?
I have a Bushmaster and it has the keyhole markings. I bought it back in like 2011. Mine has an "L" on the takedown lug.
If you send me a message with your email I’ll send you a complete list of markings via email!
Splintered A is “anchor Harvey aluminum”
Please help ID the rear takedown marked "BB14". (.458 SOCOM) Thank you.
Del Ton has a square on the upper
The Ruger AR-556 MPR has the keyhole marking.
I might not get an answer to my question on here but my upper has a square on the side and a G above the charging handle. Ive looked everywhere and cant find any info on it. Can you help?
I have news for you, Cerro is not the best ArmaLite is. They cast their own forging, they machine them, they coat them all in house. Armalite is the only company that makes their own receivers and are by far the best period!!!
Great video! I have an M on the front of the upper between the gas tube hole and the top of the receiver. Any ideas?

This is the beauty of CNC machines… its either within the spec tolerances or not… if its good… then the forge is all that matters… because it denotes material quality.
great vid. learned yet a little more
Great info bud, thanks!
I am a bit disappointed in this video. I was hoping to see information about many forge marks. Mine is a sort of disconnected letter A. It's from an M16 A1.
Anderson manufacturing uses Sarah forge and there 50 bucks brand new
most anderson lowers have the keyhole marking and they sell for 39.99$ and the upper for 59.99$ on classic firearms.
My new Colt M4 has a C with a square beside it right above the bolt assist. No markings on the rear lug. Great informative video
Thanks for the info
i bought a bushmaster recently and all the bushmasters i see on line have different markings then the one i purchased did bushmaster recently change their forge ? even the ones on bushmasters sight do not have the same forge marking as mine also i have noticed that on the left side of the mag well where the lines come up and meet they do not exactly match to the upper gun shoots fine and everything works fine most people woudlnt notice a centameter difference just wondering if anyone knows what is up with that my upper has the marking that looks like a broken A what does that mean and why is it different from other bush master firearms that i have seen on line
Who puts a 23 on the rear takedown lug? This is on a Daniel Defense AR-15 pistol… having trouble figuring it out myself…
Mine has the Cerro keyhole and the rear takedown lug has C 9 stamped in but I can't find what C 9 means. I would sure like to know. Anyone out there have any Idea?
Mine has the keyhole but no machining mark. It's a great upper so I'm not too worried about it. Just curious.
The consensus seems to be that the square forge mark denotes it was forged by Brass Aluminum Forging LLC (BAF) I have read that they are one of the suppliers of forgings to Colt and companies such as Daniel Defense, Bravo Company and Rock River.
You're right. Mine has a square forge mark.
