We’ve seen that 6mm ARC makes a heavy hit on gel at 100 and 400 yards. How easy is it to get Hornady’s new round on target?

Both the Hornady Match 108-grain ELD-M and Hornady Black 105-grain BHTP produced consistent velocities, with standard deviations of velocity at 12 fps and 10 fps, respectively. As far as accuracy on paper goes, I ended up with 2moa groups, enough precision to get me easily on target at 600 yards. Don’t miss the next video, where we’ll take the same ammo to steel silhouette targets from 200 to 500 meters!

Terrible groups. After a few hundred rounds to season the barrel and reloads, I m sure you’ll get the groups that caliber is know for.
Thats horrible for grouping giving how expensive the gun is, thank you for the video i wont be buying cmmg 6mm arc
Looks like you have a harmonics issue with the Black at 600. You were shooting a big circle.
No offense but you shoot way too fast for good groups
So the vertical stringing, I believe that is you… What kind of trigger is in there? I believe Gavin got consistent sub moa with that same gun.
Xring produced a video with A Proof Research 18" barrel that renders this cmmg barrel extinct! I would send this barrel back and have it checked.
Those are not tight groups considering you're shooting prone at 100 yards… no wind! Terrible!
The round is very interesting to me. But I really haven't seen very many impressive groups yet. So far this is becoming very reminiscent of 224 Valkyrie. I think I'm going to wait a year or two before I jump into this. Waiting saved me a ton of money on the valkyrie. Judging by the groups that I've seen I'll stick with my JP Enterprises shooting 77 grain BH blue box. If things start to look better in the future I will definitely be picking up one of these rifles or converting one of the ones I own already. But so far the accuracy has been lackluster. Great video thank you for the info!
Your positioning is important, cheek level and eye positioning is critical not to criticize but it is affecting performance and accuracy love your videos.
Bad accuracy….
Looks like standard CMMG accuracy. Don’t give up on 6mm Arc just because a CMMG cant shoot it well. There is a reason CMMG are seen as junk rifles in their hometown/home state.
With that case capacity, 103s should have had 2900 on 20", but Hornady cheaped out on the max pressure, 52,000 psi is pathetic in 2020. Probably to leave a huge margin for their Superformance line.
Should have been 70,000, would work well even in 16".
clickbait
.410 pattern test
Might as well get a 243 wssm
I'm gonna be honest that gun should shoot a lot better than that 2inch groups at 100yds these days is not acceptable most cheap guns shoot that good or better
While this is certainly a very informative video on the ballistics of 6mm ARC the performance was notably underwhelming. This is supposed to be a precision rifle cartridge. Precision typically meaning that accuracy should be below 1 MOA. Now there are a number of factors that could be in play: shooter error, not the correct load, or even just the fact that shooting gas guns is hard. The vertical stringing is a non-issue unless you have a pencil barrel or are dumping mags. It looks like the cartridge still needs more development. It's purpose was to take the performance from the 6mm Creedmoor competition cartridges and wrap that into a more gas gun friendly lower pressure cartridge.
Was talking to a Hog Outfitter in Texas. He’s all jacked about using the Hornady 95gr SST in 6mmARC. Many of the Texas hog hunters like the SST – it’s inexpensive, accurate, widely available, and deadly.
Is it just me, or is he shooting those groups a little fast??🤔
Two MOA $1400 rifle ammo conbo. Not impressed.
Straight up NON-Precision rifle
6mmARC is a good round. Hell, a great one. Experienced shooters know that you can't judge a round by the particular barrel it happens to be shot from.
I agree the accuracy here is so-so. But whose "fault" is it? This review might say something about the match between the barrel and the rounds, about the build quality, about the barrel, and yes, about the skill of the shooter. Lots of variables to choose from in the accuracy game. Sample size needs to go way up to really get a feel for average accuracy.
Next time a reviewer will get lucky and his barrel will like the harmonics of the round, and it'll shoot bug holes. Then these commenters will bounce back the other way and declare it the best thing since sliced bread.
Any statistical test needs to also account for randomness. Flip a coin 10 times and maybe you get heads 8 times. You gonna run off and tell everyone that you got an 80% coin? What happens if you flip a coin 1000 times?
Be careful about drawing conclusions from a small sample size. This is only one review with one rifle.
I would like to see it stretched out to a 1000 plus
That barrel sucks!!!!! Time to send it back! Glad I didn’t pay that much for a rifle that groups so poorly! Looks like 6 mm arc is going the way of the 224 Valkyrie!
It’s nice that CMMG was so fast getting 6-ARC to market and to you to test – but I’m not terribly impressed with those groups TBH.
I would try some reloads. I would not be happy until they are all touching.
That’s not bad, but not really very good grouping. The rifle is plainly double grouping. You did not show the bullet holes closely enough to tell whether the bullet was stable. The fact that the 105 bullets did better suggests that the barrel twist is too slow. Was that a 7 1/2 twist barrel?
The other thing is it could be a trigger/fire control system problem that typically is involved in vertical.
