  1. I just bought the Nikon Monarch 7 8×42, they seems to me better then the Vortex Viper HD 8x.42: more light and the 8x fells more like a 9x in the Monarch. Say 9x cause i tried in the same 2 min: the monarch 7, the vortex viper hd 8×42 and 10×42. Thank you for your review. I then pass today from a Monarch 5 10×42 to a Monarch 7 8×42. I guy from Montreal Canada.

  2. First off. LOVE your reviews. I've been a life-long casual birder, using mostly inexpensive porro prisms, or old, heavy, hand-me-downs made in the 70's. The pandemic has made me realize how much I want to expand my outdoor life, and now I'm on the hunt for my first, decent quality bins. I don't want to feel like I'm carrying the crown jewels with me when I camp, hike, or birdwalk, so I'm shooting between $400-700 USD. So here's my question: I'd just about decided to go for a brand new pair of 8×42 Monarch 7's, but recently found what looks like a good deal on a pair of gen 2 Vortex Razor HD's (not the current Razor) which I'm guessing are maybe 7-8 years old (??), but advertised as new, still boxed. This gen 2 razor is $700 vs $500 for the Monarch 7's. Since the Razor would normally go new for 900-ish, I'm wondering if it would be worth it to fork out the extra bills for the older Razor HD, or go with the solid, known value buy of the Nikons. I haven't seen comparisons between the gen 2 vs gen 3 Razors, but maybe your expertise could help. Any insight is appreciated… keep up the great content!

  3. Hi, Im looking for the first pair of binoculars and I’m not sure what to choose between Nikon monarch 7 8×42 or 10×42? If you have to choose only one, what would you go for? I would use them for general purposes and hiking. I know that field of view of 8×42 is better but I’m wondering that if 10×42 is that better magnification than 8×42. The price is not an object since the price difference is very small. Thank you.

  4. Thank you very much for making these detailed videos, they are much better than anything else I've seen.
Question: I've read that the Monarch HG are made in Japan but the Monarch 3 ,5, and 7 are made in China. Do you know if this is true?

  5. First of all: thanks for providing these excellent videos. I'm about to choose my first (and probably only) quality pair of binoculars. This Nikon Monarch 7, alternatively the M 7 10×42, is on my shortlist, so is a Steiner Navigator. Do you have any experience how Steiner and Nikon compare? Keep up the good work. Well done. Regards from Norway.

  6. The Damian Lewis looking star of binoculars on youtube. Great channel, the only one I've noticed with a focus on viewing through the glass. If you could find a way to steady the camera to the eyepiece, you'd corner the market on YT with bino reviews. Also curious to see Camera/Lens reviews for photog enthusiasts. Recently purchased a Monarch 7 based on research and your videos. Keep up the good work, and enjoy those W(B)est Coast views.

  7. I just ordered two pairs of these from amazon Canada I am more like a minimalist so, I wanna see 8×30 vs 8×42 there is only about a 100 dollars difference so, I will take ever works best for me thanks your vids encouraged me

  8. Thanks for review. I'm enjoying you showing the view through the binoculars. I've been reviewing binoculars in this price range for hunting and scouting purposes. This will my first set of binoculars so I've been reading up every thing I can on them. There are so many options out there it's crazy.
