Might help if you put some more details in the video… torque for the barrel nut specifically.
What flip up sights did you use?
I’d like to buy a 15” version of this. You don’t have a pre owned version do you? Anyone?
So many things wrong in this video…
I’m about to free float my S&W can I use the same gas tube in my new low profile or do I have to buy a new gas tube
To get the pins out of the A2 gas block/sight be prepared for war.
I've done alot of gunsmith work as an amateur to my arsenal of misc guns, rifles and firearms.
Getting those pins out are next to impossible, first off the pins are bigger on one end then the other, so you need to take a mm digital measurement device and determine which side is larger so you know what side to hit.
Once you determine that you need to use a Mapp gas torch to heat the gas block up to expand the pins, then use Baristol or another lube to try to get lube in the pins.
Now you have to hit the pins (which are round) with a punch without having it slip off. This is the hardest part. If you can't get the pins to budge you can try to drill the pins but trying to drill a slick rounded surface isn't easy.
I couldn't get mine off. My barrel and gas block we're old and have had over 5,000 rounds through them so this might have been why.
Did you torque wrench the barrel nut?
Can you install rails on the bottom of the handguard? If so, how close to the lower reciever can you get?
so, did you just not install the wedges between the hand rail and the barrel nut?
you probably should have dimple the barrel for the gas block
How does the diamondhead rail line up with the rail on the smith n. Wesson rail. does it line up even. where did I get the new gas block and How much was it. nice vid
This is by far the easiest handguard I have ever applied! It is also the most comfortable to handle. You can purchase rails for it through their website–they are proprietary, so be prepared. The rails are a bit pricey (for rails, anyway) but should work well. I purchased the 13.5" model and it allows the barrel to stand out for a very good look while giving lots of great gripping surface. It is in the mid-range for pricing, so you won't be out too many $$. If you are doing a new build, this is the rail you need to look at!!!
can you add rails to the bottum for grips?
just got the 13.5 for my m&p sport. absolutely love it
What do you use to add accessories? Like a light mount
I'm looking for these handguards but no one seems to have them in stock.
What was your barrel length and handguard length?? is it 16 inch and 10??
Got my DiamondHead VRS T 15" today and it recommends using anti-seize and loc-tite on the packaging. I did not see any use of anti-seize or loctite used in the video. Is it recommended or not from the video OP?
Takes a little cranking if you're turning the wrench the wrong way! LOL.
weight please?
does anyone know about these rail kits and bumpers? i want to mount 3 small accessories no more than 2in long incuding one on the bottom. can i get away with using one 3 x 2in rail kit? i keep hearing about bumpers but they look like picatinny pieces to me too so i dunno what to order, maybe i dont know what bumpers are. lol. please help!
Anyone find rails other than diamondhead's that fits?
Is that a 15'' handguard ? Did you purchase it direct from Diamondhead ?
I actually did this exact same thing to my M&P sport as soon as I got it. However when I started looking and noticed this rail sys there wasn't really any detailed vids on this particular rail when i began my hunt. I had my fingers crossed, so good getting this info out. The only difference to mine (made only weeks ago) is I chopped the stock front site up so it became a pinned lowpro gas block. After doing some forum searches the consensus was pinned gb's> set screw gb's> clamping gb's. But to each his own its just food for thought. Good job on the vid!
was this the 10.25 or the 13.5"?
This might be a dumb ? but is the 10.25 measurement from the top or bottom of the hand guard. I want this hand guard and am debating going with the 13.5 inch or a 15 inch on a 16 inch barrel. Also not sure if u mentioned it but what gas block did u go with. Thanks for the info and great video
Great tutorial! Is that the 13.5" handguard on a 16" barrel? It looks sweet. Also, I love the mat on your workstation!
