In our last video on short AR-15s we looked at how accurate they can be. You wanted more, so we are going to take a look at the difference in short and regular guns in terms of muzzle velocity.

  1. I have a 10.5 inch LWRC sbr with an eotech and magnifier. Along with a surefire suppressor. I'll tell you what, coyotes and prairie dogs sure don't know the difference! Thing is so damn accurate out to 300 yards. Also. Some people don't realize, but the shorter the barrel, the less the barrel harmonics act on the bullet, although you are losing muzzle velocity. That's why short barrel rifles are known to be very accurate at closer ranges.

  2. ground zero precision is a top notch manufacturer of anything firearms. Phil is a great CEO who knows his shit and prices stuff fair and is honest as can be. If you're searching Ground Zero Precision reliability you can't go wrong.

  3. To be honest it doesn't matter sbr or ar pistol will still end lives usually people who get ar pistols want it for cqb or some defensive situation its purpose isnt for long range but im confident it can still accomplish what needs to be done great video

  4. It really depends on ammo for the short barrels, the M16 and its cartridge was designed around a 20 inch barrel with a 55 grain bullet. The high velocity produces spall and tumble because the thin copper jacket cannot withstand the forces working on it when it hits, causing the bullet to break up and spin producing nasty wound channels. The slower you drive those bullets, the less chance of this and when your velocity falls far enough, you finally end up with a wound that looks like a man has been stabbed with a long ice pick, which will not yield good kills unless you hit an "off switch" like the brain. I have read accounts of unit commanders whose troops were packing 14.5 inch carbines and green tip issuing orders to engage the target at least six times not all that long ago, kinda pissed all over the "one shot one kill" I had pounded into my head in basic. The limited issue 77 grain open tip match however was getting good kills from that barrel length. For my 10.5 inch braced pistol I like 72 grain open tip match, it groups well in my weapon, 1inch if i do my part at 100 meters, and will hit hard if you don't try to stretch it out too far. I have other guns for long range work.

  5. Why don't you take 2. 10 pound boxes of clay and compare the damage between the full size and the "super shorty". O and not when its freezing cold so the clay will perform well for both guns.

  6. The m4 carbine (14.5” bbl) was optimized to have the shortest barrel while retaining maximum energy. So probably shouldn’t go below 14.5 unless running a suppressor at least according to the army
