  1. I'm a flashlight nut and have about 30 different lights from tiny to very large, using many different battery types. I don't care for this light and have never EDC'd it. It's not versatile, doesn't have a very long runtime vs. output, it's too big for an AAA light, and the switch is too stiff. I do think Streamlight is a good brand in general though. My EagleTac AA is about 1/2" shorter than this microstream and only slightly wider. I have the twisty version. The clicky version may be slightly longer. I EDC a Thrunite T10 NW AA using NiMH so I can always have a full battery. There's no point in carrying a light if you don't know how much battery capacity is left, unless you also carry a spare battery. I also edc the EagleTac D25A twisty with a 14500 li-ion which gives me over 400 lumens in case I need that. Yes, I always carry 2 lights, plus another in the car.

  2. i own this little light, and its a vary practical one at that! i mostly use it for reading a book in bed at night time, when i fall asleep it still running the next day!grate run time on eneloop AAA's,but for walks at night i take my surefire E1L or 6P as the 28 lumens don't cut it,good video.

  3. Thanks for the review! I purchased one and I love it! One major plus is that it will not engage accidentally. That's a big advantage to other edc lights that may claim to "out preform". Keep up the good work!

  4. I don't need the SOS/low modes.

I bought the Streamlight nano to stick on my keychain – it's useful for a city dweller (I've fixed computers with this), but the batteries are odd sized (ag3, lr41) and expensive.  That said, I love the amount of light that comes out of it.

I need the Streamlight Microstream in my life.  It looks like a good compromise between lumens and weight and the more common battery type.

  5. I found myself standing in front of a wall of flashlights today at Cabella's, and wouldn't buy one until I whipped out my phone and found one that was Crocket approved. I picked this up today and love it so far, as I do with all the gear you recommend. Thanks.

  6. I guess I'm gonna have to try this light out over the past year I've bought one light a month and got 15 now. Nothing to expensive except for my nitecore. I thought at first I had to have the brightest light out there but I find myself using my thrunite keychain light more than anything. I think this light could suit my needs cuz it's the right size . Thanks for the video I subbed

  7. I have had my stylus pro for three years using it for EDC and a backup/left-hand light at work, I'm a mechanic so I use and abuse the light, but after three years of abuse the lens is completely foggy, but it still outputs decent light. Just a long time data point on the scratch resistant lens.

    Also excellent review as always.

  8. Loved the review, my microstream is by far my favorite edc light. I probably use it 50 to 100 times a day. It's just so convenient and the clip really is not breakable I've pry snagged it on something close to a 100 times and it hasn't broken yet

  9. Love mine. I've had it for years. I have snagged the clip in both directions multipul times too. I just bent it back to give it some added tention, the extra capability is worth the bidirectional snag-ability.

  10. Hey Crocket I too like to stick with regular battery lights and had the full size streamlight but lost it. I then went to a Preon 2 with the tail clicky, never really liked it. I finally found the perfect EDC light for me the Eagtac D25A it has the tail clicky too and takes a AA battery and super bright.

  11. I carry one of these on a daily basis – clipped to the front of my shirt – between the buttons – it is so versatile and its simplicity is one of its greatest assets.

I cannot see anything on the market I would replace it with.  It is 'the torch you have with you'.

Your video captures the essence of what this product is.  Good Job.

  12. i've been using that flashlight about 1 year every single day in my pocket, in my work, in the university, in outdoors scenarios etc.! awesome little partner to have. thanks for your time, and for the video my friend

  13. Nice review

    I always carry a 4sevens mini AA
I like twisty lights for the same reasons you mentioned with being able to tailstand and they don't accidently turn on in the pocket

The mini AA for me is almost perfect because I use (against warranty) a rechargeable 14500 lithium in it which gives me several modes and insane brightness on highest (kinda like the 123 type batteries but in a slimmer form factor), and in any emergency this adds greatly to versatility becausw i can always just stuff a normal AA battery in there
I prefer lights this length much over the double cell lights because I often (unhygienicly) find myself holding my light with my mouth when I need both hands to work, and the double cell lights are just much more difficult to hold in the mouth
I wish the mini AA had a reversible pocketclip tho so I could mount it on ballcap, no pocketclip seems to be the only flaw I can find in the mini AA

  14. Push button versus turning – check.
    Positive on/off button – check
    Temporary on button – check
    Extra sturdy clip – check
Simple operation, on and off – check
Batteries widely available everywhere – check
I've cupped my hand a few times around that light coming up stairs a little later than I meant. I have the Streamlight Stylus Pro (2×AAA).
As far as standing the light up on it's own, you could carefully cut some crenulated bezels into the crown of the light, not too deeply nor too many as to damage the lens or to make it impossible to stand on its newly engraved form. What thinkest thou, my brother?

  15. I looked at stream lights at the last gun show i went too. I was impressed with the little lights, they had a fair size light too. Didn't purchase one but I should have. Nice video. Have a good evening and God Bless

  16. This is an awesome light. I'm actually on my 2nd one as the first died after going through the wash. I also have a preon 2 but prefer the microstream because the button and clip are better, and it's more compact. That said, only improvement I would make would be a stiffer clip without the hat bill nonsense. It snags on everything. Overall my favorite pocket light.
