If you have been with the channel long you know we LOVE cheap stuff. We especially love it when there is a sense of value that comes with the reduction in cost. This Fedarm AR15 screams value with the sweet sweet sound of muzzle blast. From the M4 profile barrel to the magnetic particle tested bolt carrier group (BCG), the folks at Federal Armament sure know how to make a grown man sob sweet gypsy tears of joy.

This AR15 compared to our DPMS oracles is a huge initial “one up” due to the fact that:
A) The barrel is NOT pencil thin
B) The hand guard is FREE FLOATED! (That’s right, quad rail too)
C) It has a “full auto” style BCG with a slick finish

and all this…wait for it….for the SAME COST!

This gun is made in Fort Smith Arkansas (not Arizona as I said in the video) from the new Federal Armament company. Never heard of them until I saw them on a random link. Funny how the internet works!

All this talk is great, but to me especially, talk is cheap. Stay tuned to here this thing bark! Thanks for watching!

  2. that looks like an a1 muzzle device.

it's phosphate on the dpms bcg not annodized.

For 500 bucks that looks like a decent stick. I wouldn't call it a value leader though. A mid length gas system, melonite surface treatment or chrome lined barrel add more value to the product than the cost of those features. If you get a chance check to see if the barrel is dimpled or the gasblock is pinned. If it isn't dimpled for a gasblock that is a real easy fix that you can do yourself.

Fedarm used to be natmil. I don't think they assembled ar15s under the natmil brand but they did sell quite a few receivers.

Enjoy the rifle and happy shooting. I'm looking forward to a range review vid.

  3. Standard A2 buttstock is fixed. It's the version you see on the m16a2. The A1 (Vietnam era) is a bit shorter & also fixed. Since it's commercial spec it wouldn't qualify as being labeled A1,2 or M4. But that's just trivial none sense; ON TO THE FUN STUFF!

FREAKING MPK strikes again! My man what a great value you've found here. I was really pumped to see that the barrel is wylde chambered. Typical on budget builds you don't see this chambering. The wylde chamber, in my completely no professional opinion, is best for shooters that grab either caliber and go plinking. Did it specify if it was chrome lined or QPQ treated? For the price i'd assume not BUT QPQ barrels can be found around 120$ so who knows…

WOW! Just got to the BCG portion. It is QPQ treated. That's why its slick and shiny. Also your DPMS BCG is not anodized it's parkerized. Parkerized is the standard base finish for many manufacturers and is also Mil standard on all M4s.

If you're looking for good back up irons I picked up a MAGTech MilSurp on ebay for 40$ a few months back. Next build looking to pick up a Knights Armament milsurp on ebay. Both sites new are over 100$ BUT you can find them for 40 or so on ebay. Thus far it's held up just fine. HOWEVER I have not had a chance to really abuse it. Going to a friends ranch this summer to find out if it'll standup to hard use.

Also 475 for a complete kit! Man usually you can't find kits for this cheap sans lower. This one comes with a completed lower & a free floated hand guard. Very cool. Great work on finding this deal and being awesome enough to share!

  4. The semi-auto carrier has a larger cut out area on the bottom so it can't trip an auto sear. The extended area on a full auto carrier will trip an auto sear on a full auto or tri burst trigger set. The extra weight also slows the cyclic rate which improves reliability. That's also why the heavy buffers are so popular.
That's a nice looking rifle. I checked out their site. Very nice BCG, I love that coating. The Nitromet, Melonite, whatever you want to call it, works great & is apparently less expensive to manufacture than chrome lining or plating. Good stuff!!
I have an Ares Armor Nitromet BCG & it's very smooth & easy to clean. I have two friends with Melonite barrels & they are astonishingly accurate for the cost of the barrel. They are as accurate as a mid grade, non lined target barrel and, in theory, should last almost as long as a chrome lined barrel. They don't have enough rounds through them to get a feel for barrel life yet but one is going on 5,000 & there is no visible wear beyond minor, normal, gas port erosion.
I figure, worst case, if the Melonite wears through at 5,000, then the barrel will still have an additional 10,000 rounds left on it (the standard 4150 non lined barrel life expectation)
Anyways, I am a big fan of that finish for both barrels & BCGs. lol Can you tell?
Neat buy. Can't wait to see more on it.
