My 512.A65 has the same problem. I heard it's best to speak with a tech on the phone first before sending the unit in. Mine seemed to have picked up that flaw after about a year of sitting in the closet. Maybe the wife knocked it by accident? Hard to tell, but the problem is Eotech specific.
Forgot to update: Eotech was awesome. They fixed my 512 for free, I just had to pay shipping. Trun around time was about 2 weeks. The fixed it no questions asked. I bought this Eotech 2nd hand as well, and even though I never filled out the owner warranty card, they still honored it and made it right.
Now it's perfect, edge to edge!
Glad I turned it in when I did though…..the 2 year manufacturer warranty was up in 2 months!
Just giving an update: I requested an RMA from L-3 (Eotech company) and they confirmed the authenticity of my Eotech and gave me an RMA # for free repair. I'm sending it in today and will update this when I get it back. They said once they get it, they have a 2 day turn-around and send it back, either a new one or repaired.
I am very pleased with L-3 thus far. Great customer service!
@goodlookin001 best of luck with that, but i am not under that delusion that the eotech is perfect and nothing is wrong with it. im just saying, why would eotech let a ripoff get a better product them them? it would be like Rolex making a high quality watch, then another company makes a cheep $200 rip off of the exact same thing, and the rip off ends up being better in almost every way…. doesnt work that way.
@STKhero
I've seen the most expensive of products fail. No product is without fault or failure…..You seem to be under that delusion.
In any case, I dont have anything to prove to you that my sight is the real deal. I know and anyone else "in the know" who looks through it would also know. I will shortly be sending it to L3 for repair, because I am that confident that it is real. If you care to find out the status, check back here….i'll post up the results when I get it back.
@goodlookin001 you have it backwards…. you think eotech would come out with a $600 product that gets beat to a $120 rip off? no, they are going to make it high quality, while the others are lower quality. knock offs are notorious for the problem you are having, while 99.999999999% of real eotech's will never have this problem.
@STKhero
Dude, I'm telling you, it's not fake. I know how to spot a fake from the real deal. Only real Eotechs have this problem…..it is inherent ONLY in true holographic sights, like the Eotech. No other red dot has this issue. ALL of the fake Eotechs are simple red dot sights packaged in an Eotech body.
Further, a true Eotech reticle will be grainy, as mine is. An LED based reticle is smooth, like the fake ones.
fake eotech, anybody can generate a fake serial # on the box. unless you ordered it directly from eotech's website, there is no way to tell if it is fake or real, but im 90% positive its fake.
I have the same problem with my 511 that I purchased 2 years ago almost to the day. Kinda of funny since they only have a 2 year warrenty. I sent it back to eotech for repairs 2 days ago. I will let you know what I find out.
