If you don’t want to buy a rimfire suppressor for your Ruger 10/22, you may want to consider getting a Volquartsen 10/22 FireFly bolt.

  1. hey all curious if the firefly will cycle CCi CB Longs ?? I have a bunch to use up before buying CCi quiet. They are both 710 ft/sec but the CB is olnle a 29 GR bullet vs the quiets 40 GR bullet … curious if newtons law and 11 GR = no bueno??

  2. 22plinkster – Bravo!!

    – I have the Magnum Research rifle in the 17Mach2 (like the $550 one from years back).
Obviously had to go to 22LR due to issues with the 17M2… I opted for the Tac-Sol fluted barrel with end cap for suppressor.
I have fired the CCI-Quiet in the stock gun but, as expected, it doesn't cycle it well.
I've been thinking of getting the Fire Fly bolt and this video set that in motion. hahaha.

    Thanks man!

  3. I have super colibri 20 grainers in my 10/22 right next to me out thinning the chipmunk population. I would just stick with bolt actionish use but that's cool. Love the videos as always. Those fly about 590fps for those who don't know.

  4. Cool. but I still love shooting with a suppressor. Those CCI rounds through a Ruger American 22LR with a can on it, it doesn't come much quieter than that. But for suppressed 22LR power, the Aguila SSS 60 grainers are king of the hill, and they ~do~ cycle an unmodified 10/22. FWIW.

  5. I use those rounds for pest control while out in the field for feral hog control, and I was just thinking about what it would take to cycle the CCI quiet rounds.

    Now I know.

That's a nice accessory. Too bad it can't allow the use of CCI Mini Mags. Of course I know why. But it doesn't hurt to check out the possibilities.

Thanks for doing this demo. I always enjoy the things you publish.

  6. Will the firefly bolt work with regular powered ammunition? Edit: 2:50 nothing over 1000 fps, which makes this a product that limits the usefulness of the gun. No thanks. Will have to find another solution for me.

  7. there one thing that crosses my attention by the way be fore mention I love popping roads until there is no end or out of ammo , now here where the kicker is ,that have put any thought into your lead deposit collection , accumulated over time , and run off from years of winter rain , and lead run off into the creek water , Before anyone i thing i would give it a heavy thought if it was my spot . Not saying Telling you what to do , please forgive me if this crosses your grain , but you said it . across the creek meaning over wa. just .."a concern for you my brother" this is , a " head up look out "

  8. How has your bolt held up? I bought one for my daughter to teach her to shoot so she would be afraid of the sound. I made her an ultralight pink 10/22 with a fluted tactical solutions barrel and after three or fours shoots of cci quit it locked up. On disassembly the metal insert that is pressed into the bottom of the bolt had fallen off.
I'm waiting to hear from volquartsen on getting it shipped in and fixed. Looks like it should have been put in with a set screw instead of spiked in

  9. I built a 10/22 with a titan stock, firefly bolt, Volquartsen trigger group, cvlife 6-24x50mm, Volquartsen buffer and a 50 rd drum. It shoots pretty nice, definitely want a regular 10/22 for my 3k rds of regular 22 though. It's seriously worth it

  10. I use Lapua Polar Biathlon. It is very accurate in my 10/22 based Force rifle.
I also use it in my 10/22 with a Kidd barrel. It cycles the action with the factory bolt just have to change out the spring.
    Very fun to shoot.

  11. I just bought the Firefly bolt tonight for my 10/22.  I have built my 10/22 to shoot only Subsonic ammo. I have my 10/22 suppressed and it is so quiet all you hear when you shoot it is a click.  It is quieter than a Red Ryder BB gun.  The only problem I have had is the gun won't cycle.  Well tonight I just changed that.  Setting a 10/22 up to shoot subsonic ammo only is the ultimate varmint rifle.  My friends are amazed at how quiet my setup is.  I have a lot of money invested in my rifle.  I have changed basically everything on the gun.  For a backyard varmint rifle this is the ultimate setup.  I bought a green led light so I can shoot at night.  Foxes, squirrels, raccoons and possums don't stand a chance.
