Fun Gun Reviews Presents: The Leatherwood/Hi-Lux CMR 14×24 Illuminated Reticle 1-4x Rifle Scope for the AR-15 Rifle. It’s on the Shooting Industry Magazines “Top 10 Optic of the year”. This quality optic is the best of both worlds using a lighted Reticle like a Red Dot Sight on 1x but up to 4x magnification for distance.

Thanks sootch! I was looking for a better optic for my Ar and after watching this video I decided this was the scope for me. But with Leatherwood no longer making this particular scope I was forced to find a used one. Well low and behold I found one on Armslist tht a guy was selling that bought it new and only mounted it once, then took it off and has set in his closet ever since. I got it as like new in the box for about $150. I am really lovin this scope! Thanks again sootch!
Sootch, you just make me want to buy this thing. Of course this video appears to be 7 years old, so I better check current models. Thanks for the great video. I'm sure I want a 30mm tube 1-4×20, so thanks for that
…
Young sootch.
+sootch00 what kind of battery life does it have?
I don't know exactly what the difference is but I just got the Non-Illuminated 1-4 Leatherwood and it was only 115 dollars from the sportsman's guide. Have you used it or tried it Sootch ? It seems a good scope to try out if you aren't ready or cant drop even that kind of money, which unfortunately I cant right now. Thanks
what scope would you recommend for a ruger gunsight scout in .308
I stopped watching as soon as he said "unloosen"…Is that even a word? To "unloosen" something would be to tighten it…Almost all rifle scope turrets are calibrated @ 1/4" MOA @ 100yds. (unless it's a target scope and those generally run 1/8" of an inch @ 100 yards) Your quick point hand gun optics are calibrated @ 1/2" @ 25 yards…1 inch MOA calibration? Never heard of it.. That would actually be like 4 clicks @ 100 yd zero…Besides, there's actually a rule about shooting at something when you can't see the target clearly..It says DON'T SHOOT…
Sootch. Thank you for this review. I have a Ruger AR in 6.8 and finally decided that I wanted an optic for this great rifle. I also needed something that wouldn't dip into the kids lunch money! I had read reviews of this scope all over the place but they go from 'love it' to immediately 'hate it'. Your review put me over the top to purchase it and I love the reticle. It works well with 6.8 and has all the magnification I need for the piney woods here in East Texas. I haven't gotten a chance to give it a good workout yet but I forsee good things with it. It rests in a Burris PEPR mount and I am thinking about duracoating it OD to match my rifle furniture. Thanks again and keep up the good reviews.

Now it's $399 at Natchez!
436.05 at midway usa and 352.99 at natchez –so was not so happy when i got to their pages… bummer
I have one no my ar10 nice scope but the the Illumination is pretty weak in daylight, even on it's strongest setting..
Just ordered earlier today! Midway usa.. on sale 297 for green optic!
I have the new CMR for work good for a while but after a few times at the range I noticed it had debris in it which Leatherwood will not warranty because it is a etched radical
If you have a standard fron sight will it interfere with the view of the reticle on the lowest mag setting?
sorry i didnt watch the hole video
is it a 30 mm tube or 1 inch
There is some competition or there with the Sightron SIII1-7X24IRMOA. Maybe someone could get around to reviewing this Japanese made glass.
Im shooting the 6.8 caliber do they have a chart for that
Mine just came today. Going to mount it on my Socom 16. May put one on my sgl-21
i want 2 or 3 🙂
what is the battery life?
Saving up for a Leupold .
Made in China !!?
u really look tru a scope at 10 yards common you would be dead its all instinc at that distance
What's the Battery life when using the Illumination?
Just take the acog and have a canted mount for your red dot. Problem solved. My optics are worth more than my rifle.
An MOA is slight larger then an inch. 1.047 inches. But like you said an inch works. at 1000 yards the difference is only .47 inches.
It is true about the art scopes. But they aren't the new leatherwoods out for sale, some M21s used in iraq still had the 3-9 art made in vietnam believe it or not. That scope probably never left the rifle.
Absolutely no question that it's an excellent scope for the money. It's a GREAT value.
I learned never to go cheap on a scope especially when my life depends on it and I wouldn't dare not put my life behind enemy lines relying on one of these Chinese optics. Leatherwood is a China supporter so stay away from them and support America, buy American.
Calling this a CQB optic is HIGHLY misleading. I bought one of these scopes and took it out recently. At the highest setting there is no illumination of the circle/dot in sunlight. You can't possibly compare this to an ACOG or a red-dot, which both SHINE in bright sunlight.
Mine will be replaced.
The funniest thing is that the illumination knob has an '11' setting. Spinal Tap, anyone?
Way overpriced for a chinese scope.
@IDLER223 Dood American workers do not have a god given right to have us by their crap.
@IDLER223 Yeah, I cringed when I opened up the box my Millet DMS came in and saw "Made in China" on it. It's nice though. A slightly cheaper (and heavier) version of the Leatherwood.
