  1. It's not a bad set up, but IDK if it's "the best." It's tough to beat an accurate lightweight .22 pistol like the 22/45 Lite or the new Kel Tec CP33 as your survival .22 as the "Two is one and one is none" adage applies especially to survival. Two CP33 mags holds 66 total rounds and takes up a lot less space than the .22 AR mags, which BTW I am so sick of seeing those gargantuan 30 rd mags be the only ones available. How many rds of .22 could a 20 round straight AR mag hold? Those would be much more practical for survival than the 30 rd sized mags.

That said, I'm not opposed to a .22 LR AR, not like I use to be.

  2. I love my CMMG Bravo. Didn't feel the need for buying a .22 rifle afterwards, although I do have a Henry H001 I plan on giving my friend for his birthday. He's new to shooting but loves the wild west so I figured that would be the perfect plug.

  3. Hello Ryan, To be honest I never was a AR-15 fan Very Old School) but this I like very much. I'm going to check the rifle and the conversion.. You may have taught a Old Dog a new trick..Peace

  4. My primary defensive firearm is not a 5.56/.223. There are better options. As far as the 22lr conversion for an AR15. That's a great idea. I do have a 5.56/.223 upper but use a 350 Legend upper for genuine stopping power. Also in a survival situation my AR15 stays home. Survival rifles need to be incredibly tough and dependable. My choice for survival is a bolt action rifle. I carry bolt action rifles most of the time. They accept AR15 mags. I sometimes carry a Mini-30. Just my preference. 5.56/.223 just isn't versatile enough for me. I really love my 6.5 Grendel rifles and my 350 Legends but I have been shooting 6.5mm for decades. My main rifles were chamvered in 6.5×55 SE.
I still have my model 96 short rifle and a Husky Mauser. I also have a Sako 75 and a CZ 550 FS. 6.5×55 SE is a great caluber for all medium/large game and my 6.5 Grendel rifles covers everything else. I rebarreled a Mini-30 with a 6.5 Grendel chambered barrel. It is the very best short action self loader I have ever owned. There is one other self loader that is truly spectacular. I have some other cool rifles that shoot 6.5×55 SE as fast as you can pull the trigger.
