Tomorrow, June 12th, the Maine State House of Representatives will vote on Legislative Document 1470.  LD 1470 would weaken Maine’s preemption laws to allow local municipalities to create a patchwork of laws, including prohibitions on where law abiding citizens may carry.  Please contact your state Representative and urge them to OPPOSE LD 1470.  Click the “Take Action” button below to contact your state Representative.

State preemption prevents local governments from enacting their own gun control ordinances and creating a confusing set of laws.  Law-abiding citizens of Maine should enjoy the same rights, regardless of where they reside.  Legislative Document 1470 would allow political subdivisions and municipalities to create arbitrary boundaries at public proceedings and polling places where law-abiding citizens are left defenseless against the criminals who ignore such restrictions.

Again, please click the “Take Action” button above to contact your state Representative and urge them to OPPOSE LD 1470.
