That's right, also with the red dot so close to your face you barely can use both of your eyes. So that's exactly where I keep my sight also, inline with the mag. Cute dog btw.

I've seen a lot of Black Eyes growing up with high powered rifles, please friends, not way to the rear. Scopes do make a really nice shiner, round, black, purple, yellow… And everyone asks you "HOW'D THAT HAPPEN"? But the good thing about it is it will only happen ONCE!!

Great topic! I mount my red dot as far back as possible without interfering with my back-up rear sight. Reason: I want to minimize the sight's housing causing gaps in my field of view. By mounting it further back, it puts the housing completely out of focus, regardless of how close of a target I'm looking at, as long as both eyes are open like they're supposed to be when using an unmagnified red dot. It's kind of like how your nose doesn't make it into your field of vision (unless you cross your eyes… don't do that…).
I'm not allowed to own an AR-15 because I live in the unconstitutional People's Republic of Maryland. When we move to Florida this Summer, I'll get one and rewatch this video.
your scope wiggled a bit, happens to the best of us brother haha. I once shot at 500 yards half my magazine with a loose scope before I realized why my rounds were all over lol.
My EOTech is farthest forward on the receiver, followed by a magnifier, followed by a rear BUIS. All 3 fit and I can absolute cowitness.
There's a conventional line of thinking that says forward mount the red dot as far forward on the receiver as possible, but keep it off the handguards. But the truth is the best place is the place that works best for you. On some of my rifles I mount them very far forward. 6" to 8" behind the muzzle. And it works just fine. As for co-witness I prefer a true co-witness. It simplifies the sight picture and zero.

i was a 12c in the 36 eng bat. i took my combat training very seriously when i could get it( i was a bridge crewmember) and sucked up as much knowledge as i could. i never saw any type of hostile environment. im not saying i wanted to but what would you say is the one thing they dont or cant teach you in training youve learned in your experience?
