Last week, Governor Janet Mills signed Legislative Document 27, “An Act To Allow the Use of a Crossbow for a Limited Duration during the Archery Season on Deer and the Fall Season on Wild Turkey.”
Sponsored by Representative Tim Theriault (R-79), this bill expands opportunities to hunt with a crossbow during the spring turkey season and the deer archery season for three years. This long-awaited legislation will allow hunters the freedom to use a crossbow if they choose. Along with other pro-hunting bills supported by the NRA, LD 27 will help increase hunter participation and retention in order to preserve Maine’s rich hunting heritage.
Your NRA would like to thank Rep. Theriault for sponsoring this critical legislation and Gov. Mills for signing it into law. Please stay tuned to www.nraila.org and your email inbox for further updates on issues affecting our hunting heritage and Second Amendment rights in Maine.
