The NEW AR-15 Complete Owner’s Guide:
When it comes to optics like AP and EO I usually stick to reputable companies like Brownells found here:
Both of these are great military grade optics. Pick one and love it. 1st world problem.

  1. I think the major difference between Eotech and Aimpoint is the fact they both have different shaped apertures. While the Eotech has a wider field of view, the Aimpoint generally has a round tube view which isn't ideal for close quarters. The less obstruction the better, this is why Eotech is considered the top of the line for CQB and why I prefer it over most tube style rds.

The starburst 65moa circle is all gimmicks to me. I in fact prefer the finer Aimpoint dot over the busy reticle that can potentially block your target. That is why if I'm to buy an Eotech it would be the xps2-1 without the 65moa circle and just the 1moa red dot. That way I get the best of both worlds.

  2. EO's used to be really nice. Now they just suck. The last two EO's I bought both had to be sent back to the factory. The first was a 512. It shut off at the range about halfway through the second mag and wouldn't turn back on. The second was a 552 that had a blurry red blob instead of a reticle strait out of the box. How that kind of crap makes it through inspection I can't even guess.

The worst part about both experiences was EO's customer service. I had to pay like $18.00 to ship back THEIR defective products. Worse than that, the customer service people who tried to "troubleshoot" the issues treated me like I was a retard. I used EO's in the Marine Corps and know exactly how they're supposed to work. I know exactly what the reticle is supposed to look like. With the 552 they kept trying to convince me that the reticle was just turned up too high. I'll never buy another EO ever again. I'll stick with my Aimpoints from now on (or until I can afford an ACOG!)

  3. M4s with 3x magnifier is the answer to it all except for weight. And the warranty is not lifetime. It's 2 years professional, and 10 years personal. Answer is to buy both the Eotech and the Aimpoint though.

  4. I need to pick up those GG&G lens covers for my EOTech.  Not that I fear my lenses will be permanently damaged by anything less than a bullet.  So far this 516 has been a damn tank.  No it's not waterproof to as much of a depth as the Aimpoint, but it withstood torrential rain in my my most miserable hunting experience ever.  Battery life hardly concerns me.  I'll take that superior reticle if I have to press a button to get it.

  5. I have an Aimpoint PRO and I have an EoTech EXPS2-2 and I love them both. There really is no downside to either sight unless you consider the pricetag a downside (some cheapos tend to want to put 50-100 dollar sights on their rifles).

  6. having owned an EOtech, an older model. The battery life was really bad, infact most the time when i would go shooting my battery would be dead. They've obviously improved since then but something about being about to leave an optic on for 3-8 years is fantastic. ill also admit i personally like the eotech dot better but my next red dot purchase will be a aim point probably a pro

  7. It is easier for you eye to see a big circle than just a little dot, there's really no arguing that. Both are really good optics, but Aimpoint has the advantage of long battery life and you can just leave it on.

  8. You should hire out as a speed-talker. Slow down!  Cut down on the coffe!  I can hardly understand what  you're saying.  In fact, I had to turn of the video because of the irritating speed-talking.

  9. I just ordered everything for my first AR build except the optic. I am having the most ridiculous time deciding between the Aimpoint micro T1 and the Eotech exps3. I'm leaning leaning toward the Eotech since I have great eyesight and I prefer a precision dot, but you can't beat the weight or battery life of the Aimpoint, and this is meant to be as light of a build as possible. Man…decisions, decisions! Thanks for taking the time to upload a video, it was helpful, even if I haven't made my decision yet.

  10. One thing to consider is your eyes. I have different vision in each eye (corrected.) Because of that, I find the EoTech with dot + outer ring easier for target acquisition when shooting with both eyes open.
I also like the dot + ring of the EoTech with 3X's magnifier – just seems easier to use than a single dot when magnified.
Regardless, both are great quality, function and reliability and come down to personal preference.

  11. Have a Eotech XPS2, Aimpoint Pro a micro H-1 and Trijicon Accupoint TR-24.

Honestly, the Pro is the best bang for the buck… Great sturdy optic at a decent price. The only reason I got an H-1, was because it mounted to my mini 30 better.

The Accupoint is my favorite range optic. At 1x the green triangle works like a red dot. Crank it up, you can tag pretty much anything you want.

FYI… Spend the money on a good mount… Go LaRue!
