As with all my videos, this is not necessarily a “how to”, but more so to show that YOU too can do basic work on your firearms. Swapped out the A2 front sight for a receiver height gas block and Troy Battle sights front and rear. Sure the pins were in there tight, but with a little force and driving them in the RIGHT DIRECTION, they popped right out.

When it comes down to it , the A2 sight is the most durable .
I want to do the same exact thing. Your video answered all my questions. What block did you use? Brownells?
To anyone who may not be aware and hasn't purchased yet.. The M&P 15 OR (optics ready) comes with a same-plane picatinny gas block. The block itself is pinned and has both a threaded hole to mount a sling stud for mounting a sling or bipod & a QD sling mount machined into the bottom of the block.
When I was shopping for my first AR (post Sandy Hook) Crazy laws were being passed & the shelves in my area were picked clean. I didn't really notice or care about these features, but I was happy to have them as I upgraded later on. Just a heads up if you're in the market or new to the AR platform.
I have the same M&P and essentially wanted to make the same exact mods. You answered a lot of my questions and I really like the way your rifle turned out. Your video did not come in the first several searches but I'm glad I finally came across it. Thanks again for the info and for making the video!
Is your gas block the Diamondhead railed one?
where did you get your gas block from?
I liked the over all look after sort of cleaned it up some
