From MoA’s press materials:

“We set out to design the lightest no compromise AR-15 rifle that had ever been produced. We have designed all of our components around high performance materials, combined with advanced engineering allowed us to not sacrifice accuracy or durability while reducing weight in every possible component. Our Esoteric receiver set manufactured from 7095 Tennalum is not only light, its incredibly strong. We utilize a proprietary tensioned handguard system to ensure that our custom profiled barrel does not move during extended firing periods. In order to achieve this accuracy the barrel is heated during installation to allow the barrel to grow. Once the barrel has reached its maximum growth, we assemble the upper and torque the nose cone nut to ensure that when the barrel cools the handguard resists the barrel from shrinking, keeping the barrel in tension.”

  1. Refreshing to see so much innovation, technology, modern science & manufacturing techniques go into one beautiful creation. But enough about James's ripped physique, the rifle is pretty neat too.

  2. So they machined a bunch of mass out of a an already lightweight titanium BCG…it cycled to violently and lent itself to carrier bounce so they added a giant, heavy ball bearing with springs to counter it? 🤨 I guess it’s only $450 🤦🏻‍♂️

  3. Your salesman (drew) needs to stop saying "I think it's…" when he's talking about the features of his product. He needs to just know (seeing as how he even took part in the creation of it).

  4. I gotta say, this has been one of if not THE best product presentations and shit-shoot I've ever seen. Real down to earth, homestyle stories of development, and brilliant design choices. MOA are real standup people, credit given where credit is due, that's not a bad price. To be frank lots of people are going to freak about the price, but the quality of concept, production, and machining looks spot on, and I know plenty of guys who've sunk right around $3,000 in aftermarket parts alone into ONE of their multiple AR's.

Without optics $3,200 is pretty nice for something you won't put much else into, especially compared to some custom 1911 proshops and small-batch rifle manufacturers.

  5. “3D printed titanium muzzle break” why? Just why. They just like the sound of it? Just mill it. It’s a muzzle break, not complicated to make, and they aren’t making a prototype.
