The American made L3 Communications EOTech 553 holographic weapons sight cost about $600-700 back in 2006 when it was first made available to the U.S. public. Designed for USASOC, the 553 was trial tested before going into production under contract and has been battle tested extensively.
Ten years later, functionally similar dot/reflex sights can be bought for $15, that while lacking the durability, reliability and reputation of the 553, are perfectly usable for hobby use.
Using an accurate foam blaster with newer design accurate foam darts, dot sights such as these become functional as the following test confirms.
