I've been making a case for years for pistol caliber carbines for home defense. Exactly what you said not a ridiculous amount of recoil, probably no Muzzle blast, and they're nowhere near as loud. This is a big deal because you don't want the concussion of your own weapon to disorient you. Also any member of the family can fire the thing. And they hold a lot of rounds, and as you've mentioned the ballistics coming out of a 16 inch barrel are much closer to 3:57 than they art with 9mm out of a pistol. I don't know if I would necessarily say the AR-15 9mm is the best way to go for home defense, but you're not going to go wrong with it, as long as it functions reliably. With so many great PCS on the market nowadays I hope more people start exploring this as their go-to home defense gun.
I couldn't agree with you more, home defence in urban areas is where this firearm shines, be it a AR pistol or SBR. Personally I would add a suppressor, flash-light and shoot hollow point in sub-sonic, because Bad Guys usually work at night and I like to work in stealth mode so I don't disturb my kids.
yup, $600 for a 9mm pistol that isn't as easy to use for home defense as a pistol, if you need 30rds for a home defense its more of an invasion and you should have 223 anyway, just another sales pitch.
all this gear queer stuff kills me…223 doest over penetrate …..that much. Are you kidding me? Oh someone is kicking my door in…..let me put my war belt, ballistic vest, ear and eye pro on. When is someone gonna make a video about REAL down to earth home defense? I mean NUTNFANCY has over 500000 subscribers and was an Air Force pilot he hasn't a Tactical thought in his mind he,thinks the, equipment can do it for him. Please people be,real with yourselves. Someone enters your house in the, middle of the, night….you reach for the nightstand grab you hand cannon and get ready to go to work in your fucking UNDERWEAR. End of Story.
Sweet ar-15, I have a colt 6920 chambered in 5.56, but I would like to pick up something like this to save money on ammo. Where in Montana do you live? I live in Butte.
very true, but if your child is on the other side of that wall you want one bullet stopping the target and not going through a wall to injure a family member.
MP5 is one of the best most reliable rifles (SMG) ever made but they are a few thousand dollars for a knock off. A pistol caliber rifle especially one that runs the same ammo or mags is a plus too, not to mention if you have the ability to train on the same platform as your .223 that's a plus to. 9mm ammo has more variety than almost ant other caliber from crap to stuff that can perform on par with larger calibers. Nice vid.
AR varients shooting anything other then rifle rounds are stupid,i would never waste my time or money,i dont use an AR for home defense, ill stick with my kimber .45 for home defense
What do you mean the same power?? A 9mm is a 9mm right??.. My S&W SWV9E 9mm has the same power as a Glock 9mm correct?.. Explain what you are saying im fairly new to pistols and AR type rifles so all the info I can gather the better off I am!!
ok so come to my house and stand in the next room and i will shoot my mini 14 at you through only 2 walls. you should be just fine right……this offer stands untill your ready to die.
bullshit, the rounds will only have enough force to go through but so much, if you shoot at any it's going to get wrecked it would have enough force to go through a couch and hit the target but not enough to go through the target
.223 is better round for self defense. A 9mm can go through a body and 4-5 walls. A .223 is designed to tumbled on impact and will not penetrate more than 2 walls of standard dry wall.
AR-15: expensive as blam, too bloody complicated for the uninitiated to grab and go, not reliable to trust your life with, and often underpowered for fighting people.
@Everett07630 .45-70 ,500 S&W, .460 S&W are the only rounds that come out of a pistol that I would feel comfortable saying it is a "one shot stop" round. And I would not keep a Magnum Research BFR as a bedside self defence gun, but it is a cool idea, just not practical.

you sound like AL bordland. I miss home improvement!! went to the website. this 9mm carbine is not there!!

A mechtech Carbine Conversion Upper is another way to get the accuracy and firepower of a carbine in a pistol caliber.

I'd say that if you find yourself using a shotgun inside your home, patching the walls up later is the last thing on your mind.
Is this gun still running if so what is the round count?

5.56/223 ammo is better for home defense than 9mm. 9mm will go straight through your house, but 5.56/223 flips and fragments in walls.
ok so come to my house and stand in the next room and i will shoot my mini 14 at you through only 2 walls. you should be just fine right……this offer stands untill your ready to die.

I agree; excellent choice; except SBR it.
what kind of .223 ammo are you using or talkin about?
.223 is better round for self defense. A 9mm can go through a body and 4-5 walls. A .223 is designed to tumbled on impact and will not penetrate more than 2 walls of standard dry wall.

i have the hi point 9mm and 45 cal carbines rifles. awesome guns to shoot. i prefer the 9mm a lot cheaper to shoot
I got a Olympic arms Ar 9mm & it use UZI mags
I want one of these bad! Im trying to make a deal as we speak.
I think I'd rather a Kel Tec Sub2000 with glock mags.
Very interesting vid! I wasn't aware you could even get an AR like this.
Why would anyone put a Cavalier engine into a CORVETTE ?
I want a .223 handgun 🙂 if U can have a 9mm AR.
I wish they made this in 40 cal….
Heeelllppp meehhh…
Know any AR-15 that would be a great starter for a cheap price? D: I don't.
can i slap this on my 5.56 bushmaster lower???

@millerusaf .50 AE for meh 😉
There is nothing "perfect", or "home defense" about a 9mm. Take off the dress Sally.
