Also when you pay enough for nice equipment for your weapons u get nice equipment. Of the lines you get what u pay for. People I haven't read any eotech issues. We're not talking about putting an $50 NcStar red dot on an $1,000+ gun. That's just ignorant. Only thing that would be good optic for is an airsoft gun. Eotech has been proven reliable many times over. Asides from that if your worried that much of an issue with it. Put it through its paces b4 installing this item to it. To be sure.
Looking into these myself. Glad to see it fits that model have that one and the cr123 model but yeah lil extra protection never hurts. As for saying removing the hood to put it on voids warranty. If I had to ever send it back. I do belive it would be removed an put back as original. B4 shipping it back. But I'm on my second one. My last one never had an issue of any kind. Nor does my second eotech. Not do I think it will at all. Its had many rounds shot attached to the gun. No issues.
@deathtolltally I would say that the warranty for the hood would be void because that is what you messed with. I doubt that if the electronics went out they would screw you over because you took the hood off unless you put in the wrong screws and they screwed all the way into the board somehow. Then it would be related to what you did.
But who knows, if they are a shit company(dont think they are) they could get picky and stick to the letter of their warranty and deny a claim.
Your best getting an Eotech straight from GG&G. Prices are great I bought a 516 which has the newer raised mount of 7mm (its NOT NV) but it uses CR123 battery so its smaller then all the other doubble AA's. Also the controls are located on the left side so you can make adjustments while using their 3Xor 4X magnifier. I paid $435 which included the GG&G cover already on. Does not void warranty. I spoke to Eotech personaly. Dont work or own GG&G but I always buy from them when possible.
I was spreading it away from the sight a bit as I was sliding it off, it still was stiff to slide. Putting on from the front worked better and I think sliding the cover off the front would have made things easier.
This is the first time I had it apart and the only one I have done so I don't know if they are all like that.
Not water proof but the Eotech is, tactical advantage..??? They are like bikini covers for a rifle scope they protect the glass from damage, debris and finger prints when not in use.
"flip both covers to ingage[sic]", yeah I have to flip both covers when I am engaging paper at the range….I am not an operator so I don't really require a tactical advantage, I just want a little added protection for my optic.

My eotech manual specifically states that removing the hood for any reason will void the warranty
great vid, but why the shitty ass music?
Dude, the bass from this sound track is making my walls shake, kinda startled me at first.
@wchangose I used a drop of dish soap.
what did you spread over the top of the lens cover to lubricate it as you slid the GG&G enhanced hood cover back on the sight?

@pkim2424 That's what I thought…that's what it says in the Eotech manual
Doesn't removing the cover void the warranty on the Eotech?

No, I think the hood(guard) on the 517 is shaped differently due to the side buttons but I am not 100% sure.
