good Info, good video – Great assessment of the scope. Give yourself a break, general ballistics for a 4" to 6" kill zone, point blank range, if you zero using your current dope, about 1.8" high at 100, you'll carry the 300 and beyond without dropping out of 6" – excellent for deer size game, nearly as good for Coyotes. 😉 — I have this on a 223 DMR, don't like scope, pushing down on the turrets just a bit can change but, it but it does its job . 😉
Also remember that the cartridge data you get is from a 24" barrel. So if you are shooting a shorter barrel, which most do, your velocity will be off. Most studies I have seen put it around 25 to 30 FPS per inch of barrel. For me, I had to mentally adjust the hash marks for range by using a ballistics calculator for my adjusted velocity. So, @ 300yd was actually about 250yd. You won't actually know until you sight in at each distance. Also, most of the BDC reticle must be at max scope power. So as a coyote hunter I love the BDC, but, if I had not adjusted for each of the hash marks values I would hate it.
Bryce thanks for a well done, and informative video. This past weekend I picked up this scope as well as a Nikon M-223 mount for $125 total (couldn't pass up a 4-12 Nikon at that price), but I plan on using it on a Rem 700 in .25-06 and Leupold rings/bases (the M-223 mount will be going in my extra parts bin for now) with 100gr bullets to get close to the .223 settings of the scope. I'm only looking for it to put rounds within 2-3 MOA in the 300 yrd range without any Kentucky windage, and I look forward to sharing my results. Keep up the great work!
Hey Bryce, I've watched a couple of your videos and learned a lot. Thanks. I recently got hold of a J15. It's like an AR15 with a handle. I know very little about guns so bear with me here. I need a scope and I think I want a red dot. My eyesight is not very good. I'm 62. I think what I need is a good general purpose scope, something for target shooting and maybe small prey like foxes, possum, etc. Can you suggest something maybe under $200. And what do you think about this scope. AC11872 – 1-4×28 IR SWAT-AR Rifle Scope by Barska. AR15scopes has it on sale for $149. A friend suggested I get a combination scope, a red dot with magnification. Hey I really appreciate your time and your videos. Thanks. very nice video
Tape to mark target? Just use a sharpie and line thru each hole??? cheaper, faster, easier…

That first shot is more then likely due to being a cold bore shot.
