This is the first of a series of videos that will put the AR15 against its competitors. There are several “AR Alternatives” on the market, but how do they compare to the AR? This series of videos will start with table-top comparisons, and later they will be put face-to-face on the range. Thanks for watching!

  1. Tbh I carry a military m4 every day at work and I didn’t even recognize the ar on the bottom at first until I really looked at it mostly because I’ve honestly never seen an m4 that new with the finish on it and everything like maybe tie some 550 cord to the front sight base and drag it through a day of off-roading behind a 4×4 and then it would look genuine lol

  2. Everytime I think I have enough AR's, I see another one I just have to have. I've got to build an M4 clone now. thanks… Really though, that's a good looking AR.

  3. Should say enough that we are comparing the "new" relatively speaking ACR to the tried and true M16 based rifle designed in 1965 and asking if we can compare these. Just that question alone speaks volumes about how far ahead of time Eugene Stoner was.. think about that, a truly modular platform before it was even demanded.. most rifles designed after his time owe thanks to his Genius.

  4. The ACR “could” be better or equal. Almost any platform can be amazing with the aftermarket support the AR enjoys. Although… the AR truly is an elegant concept that was ahead of its time. Only now are the materials coming out that allow the AR to shine. I really like the initiative behind the ACR. And I would like to see an updated AR. But…. once a weapon has the aftermarket support that the AR does…. it’s hard to “dethrone” it unless the new design really is superior in every way.

  5. I would say that the MGI Hydra/Windham Weaponry MCS is a fairer platform to compare the ACR to

Hydra/MCS being an AR with quick caliber conversion features, a being developed under the same logic.

A 21st Century Adaptive Combat Rifle being capable of easily changing calibers in the field to adapt to a fluid combat environment.

Hydra/MCS has the novel approach of an interchangeable magwell, the idea being that an operator could go from 5.56 NATO and outside the wire swap to 7.62×39…and use battlefield salvage AK mags.

Hydra/MCS has the big merit of backwards compatibility with AR parts and components…you can even "make" your own caliber conversion kits if either MGI or Windham don't have what you are looking for

  6. check your math on the weights. 1 lb 10 oz difference in weight is not 'a little over 2 lbs' – good vid though, thanks for posting it.

  7. Yeah they sale Law tactical folding stock conversion adapters for the AR platform have for a while now. And shit tons of different caliber uppers two pins and done available years ago not soon even a 50. BMG lol . And if you pay that much for a AR 15 thats your stupidity lol $600 ARs literally everywhere. Mine is a LMT upper and Areo Precision lower $700 total

  8. Interesting video. I've been thinking of getting an ACR to add to the collection and add variety. In my opinion, it doesn't do anything better than an AR-15 and costs quite a bit more than an AR. I can get 3 AR's (depending on brand) at current pricing for the cost of one ACR. The ACR is also heavier and not as well balanced. I'd argue that an AR-15 can sling a 5.56mm projectile just as accurately and reliably as the ACR, SCAR, BREN, etc. That's been my experience anyway.

  9. First great video. And from some of the comments there seems to be some hate on the ol M4. I’ve had colts and bushmaster never had a problem with them. I certainly would like to shoot the ACR the weight isn’t that big a deal in the service I always carried one with the 203 and wouldn’t have it any other way. My list of guns I want is getting out of hand but I can live with it.

  10. After 50 uears of service it time for the m16 ar15 to go but maybe. Do. A. Top swap for a better round 6.5 or 6.8. And field test the new rifle for some time to make shurr there are not bugs in it
