Alignment and Lapping of rings ensure maximum surface area contact between scope tube and rings. This not only helps the rings hold the scope more securely but also protects your scope from damage misalignment can cause. The Wheeler Alignment Bars, Lapping Bars and Lapping Compound allow you to achieve the perfect fit between scope and rings.

Reticle Leveling is also a key component to the accuracy of your set up. Crosshairs that are not properly leveled will result in errors in left/right windage especially at longer distances. Misalignment can also compromise true linear movement from turret adjustments. The Wheeler Level-Level-Level makes it quick and easy to get the reticle perfectly aligned with your gun.

Securing Fasteners properly is critical to accuracy as well. Precisely controlled torque along with thread locking compound will keep your scope held securely in place. Professional grade bits and the F.A.T. Wrench are the perfect combination to properly secure fasteners without deformation.

Complete list of components:

– Scope Ring Alignment Bars
– Scope Ring Lapping Rod and Handle
– Lapping Compound
– Level-Level-Level
– F.A.T. Wrench with 10 bits
– Thread Locking Compound
– Scope Mounting DVD

Get the most accuracy possible out of your gun by ensuring proper scope installation. Engineered by Battenfeld Technologies, Inc.

  1. Seems to me that using a level is fine to get it close, but marking a plumb line on a target with a level and a Sharpie ought to be WAY more precise. You still have to level the rifle side-to-side in the rest, but your eye ought to be able to pick up a much smaller error if the plumb line is 100yds downrange.

  2. I don’t think anyone is suggesting that you need this fancy equipment and precision just to hunt. You can hunt with a spear. The idea here is more about long-range precision and just seeing how accurate you can be just for the sport and fun of it. It’s not about necessity (aside from military applications), but more about a challenge.

  3. Better to put the lapping bar in bottom rings without the top ring first, not sliding the bar in with the top rings on. Sometimes the capon the scope  isn't level , the cap sometimes has a convex to it making the level hard to be accurate. Just went through this so I thought I'd lend a hand.

  4. Great tutorial! It explains everything it needs to be explained. But one important question… What's the name of the backing track?I love this music (even if it is not a backing track)

  5. The Wheeler FAT wrench has instuctions that specify 28-30 in-lb on scope rings, which was enough to dent my scope. After realizing what had happened, I checked with the manufacterer of my rings (Talley), and they specify 15-20 in-lb for the scope rings. Gee thanks Wheeler for denting my brand new scope.

  6. It works well and makes perfect sense when you're running $1000 optic on a $3000 rifle. I have been a gunsmith for 10 years and for long range high accuracy platforms this thing is a dream. If you're shooting a Walmart rifle with a crap scope what's the point of even bothering you're only shooting a hundred to two hundred yards I personally prefer to shoot 800 yards to a click 🙂

  7. Level your action to the earth, not the turret or ring bottoms [unless you have a round receiver, slightly different method, or use mfg recommended rings like the Weatherby VS2 for example]. While action is level, scope set on bottom rings, parallel the vertical line of the reticle to a plum-bob line about 30 feet away. This will give you a perfectly parallel, horizontal reticle line, with the rifle's action without having to buy 'leveling tools'.

Buy the alignment & lapping rods too.

  8. I've mounted many scopes and this instructional video is way way more complex then necessary. Maybe if was a professional gun smith and set up rifles for match shooters would all these steps be beneficial.

  9. lol when me and my cousin mount a scope its more like looks good to you? ya dose it look good to you ya. let's set it then if you miss its always the wind always.
its so shady compared to this video.

  10. This is a BS video because my 22 rifle is so old with iron sights, it doesn't have any screws to mount a scope, and there sure as heck ain't going to be some rifle specific little tabby mounts for it. So I need instructions for a more universal kit that will fit anything even if it doesn't have screw holes.
