I have a similar set up with my Sig250C in .40cal with a light/laser combo as my nightstand pistol and I totally agree with you. With our four kids under 12 years of age, I definitely want to identify my target before I shoot regardless of any risk of giving away my position. I couldn't live with myself if I shot a loved because I could not tell who the person was. Turns my guts just thinking about it.
