Here is a CMMG Banshee 300 Mk4 AR Pistol in 300 Blackout. This AR pistol is very well machined with a “slate” cerakote finish. The optic is a Nikon Black Force1000 has a 1 – 4 magnification and a 24mm objective diameter. What do you think of this setup?

  1. This week (2) bills were introduced in Congress to impose so-called “universal” background checks. The bills, H.R. 8 and S. 42, are being misleadingly described as simply requiring background checks on all sales of firearms, but this is just a small part of what these overbroad pieces of legislation would do. Please ask your Representative and Senators to oppose H.R.8 and S.42.

  2. PS— I watched your video on Marco “Strike while the Waffle Iron is Hot” Rubio and the (utterly infuriating) “Red Flag Extreme Ooga Booga” laws… and naturally, I started commenting. Apparently, I went into a CSDS (catatonic serious discussion seizure), and I wrote way too much commentary for the YT entry to accept. So, humanity was saved from their eyes being glazed over by that editorial… but, I did dig the video. 👍

  3. How serendipitous, the timing… I am building a very similar setup at the moment. When I see this, I am reminded of how much I am influenced by looking at various CMMG setups (although they’re a little pricey for me out of the box, so I haven’t ever owned one…). But instead of the Rip, I used an SBA3, same sling which I have on another carbine (for now, may change), black (not that CMMG signature slate), K2+ (love rubber, and love the near 90d vertical like B5 or K2), and MLok rail. The two undecideds left to determine… barrel and optic.

I keep thinking, why not take the dive and explore what .300AAC can do, especially in a short AR setup. So I am researching. But a nagging part of me wants to just keep it logistically simple and stick with 5.56… particularly since I will likely not go NFA and suppress it, which apparently involves a substantial portion of the .300AAC’s noteworthy capabilities. I am trying to find a compelling reason to branch out to .300AAC, but if I don’t like it or find it especially useful, I don’t want to be stuck with a tool (and/or barrel or upper) that rarely gets used. As far as the optic goes, I am thinking of just putting a Holosun dot and calling it a day. But, I am also thinking of putting a 1-6x ACSS on my rifle, and moving the EOtech to this new pistol. It might just be an excuse to get a new scope, and 1-6x might just be overkill for a 16” 5.56 rifle… orrrrr not… I mean, if you can see it, you can lob them out there, why not… even if it’s got the energy of a pebble rolling off a rooftop…. 🤣 Either way, the EOtech or the Holosun would probably be a great fit for the pistol.

See how vexing all these decisions are? I know you sympathize, and you’re breaking out your tiny violin… 🎻 But, I would like to know— am I doing this pistol in .300AAC, or should I just stay with One Pill to Rule Them All… the remarkable little Five Five Six? Go get your magic 8-ball and shake that baby up….

  4. I'm really digging that Slate as well. Deadfoot arm folding system would go great with that little pistol. Think you can test some of the Lehigh defence 78gr 300blkout? From what I see of it out of a 16" barrel is really impressive. Love to see how it does out of a 8" barrel.
